How Will I Watch Lehigh at Colgate This Afternoon?

Not headed to the the frozen tundra this afternoon to catch the Lehigh/Colgate rivalry?

OK.  I do sort-of understand.  My sled dogs are in the shop, too.  Besides, it is really tough on them to pull the smoker up to central New York when the temperature is 80 degrees.

So how do you catch the game?

Never fear.  LFN's here.

Your Lehigh Bye Week Viewing Guide

Did you think you would get off easy on watching college football simply because it's Lehigh's bye week?

First of all, it gives you time to catch up on watching ESPN's College Football Gameday, where you can see the Lehigh flag that frequently makes an appearance on the program.  (Who knows?  Perhaps Gameday will head to Lehigh for the Fordham game next weekend, or maybe perhaps #Rivalry151 in November.)

There's also so good opportunities to scout out Lehigh's upcoming opponents in Patriot League action.  Three Patriot League games are taking place at lunchtime, and another is happening at 3:30 PM.

If you receive the CBS Sports Network, you can see whether Bucknell will make it a perfect Patriot League sweep over Army-West Point in the 2015 football season.  The Bison face off against the Cadets at noon, and if you don't have it available on TV, it can be seen via subscription from Army's website.  In much of the Lehigh metro area, too, the game can be heard on AM 770 WABC New York as well (which is how I will be catching part of the game).

At 1:00 PM there are two critical Patriot League games on at the same time:  Colgate at Georgetown and Holy Cross at Fordham.  Both are streaming on the Patriot League Digital Network.

I'm probably going to be out when these games are on, so their digital archive will likely be my friend.  Besides, I need to figure out how Lehigh is going to stop Fordham RB Chase Edmonds next weekend, right?

I'm hoping to be home in time to catch Harvard at Lafayette at 3:30, which will also be on the Patriot League Digital Network (and also available by broadcast on WPBH-60 locally in the Lehigh Valley).

There's a lot of interesting games on in the area on regular TV starting at 3:30 as well.

On ABC, Michigan State takes on Michigan in a huge, national game, while locally on the Big 10 Network Rutgers takes on Indiana as the Scarlet Knights hope to get back on track after losing their upset bid to the Spartans last week.

In the FCS world, at 3:30 former Lehigh opponent Yale plays an out-of-conference game at Maine of the CAA, which is available on Fox College Sports Atlantic on some cable systems.

Some over-the-air TV stations can also receive Villanova at Albany, a CAA matchup, as well.  Check your local listings.

If you can stream ESPN3, two really good FCS games are happening, South Dakota State at Youngstown State, and Penn at Columbia.  Penn is a former Lehigh opponent, and Columbia, fresh off a win over Wagner last weekend, will see head coach Al Bagnoli face off against the team he coached for decades.  You can get to these streams here.

At night, the two biggest area college football games will be on broadcast TV.  Notre Dame takes on USC, in a game with oodles of storylines, on NBC.  And Penn State takes on Ohio State on ABC.  Pretty sure that game will be on a lot of TV sets tonight.

How To Watch Lehigh at Bucknell If You’re Not Going

If you're not able to catch the Bucknell game in person,  you can stream the game here from the Patriot League Digital Network.  It's a 1:00 PM start and it's the only available video broadcast of the game.  The link is below:

Patriot League Digital Network

What I like to do in times like this is to mute the PLDN broadcast, and to listen to simulcast of what's local in the Lehigh Valley on AM 1230 and AM 1320 (which you can put on your actual radio, if you like that sort of thing).  Today Matt Kerr, Matt Markus and Steve Lomangino are on the call:

http://www.espnlv.com/

As bad luck may have it, the whole Patriot League slate up against one another on the Patriot League network.  There is a chance to catch the end of the Lafayette/Georgetown game after the Lehigh game.  If so, you will be able to find that here:

For the East Coast, and specifically Penn State and Notre Dame fans, there's a boatload of great FBS games on this afternoon.  ABC/ESPN is carrying Indiana/Penn State (played just down the road from Bucknell) and at 3:30 Navy takes on Notre Dame.  I think I might check in on Navy to see if they can upset the Fighting Irish... after the Lehigh game, of course.

If you're not close to a TV, you may be able to watch them here.

In a not-so-good TV game at 8:00 PM tonight, Michigan State takes on hapless Rutgers on the Big 10 Network.

In the FCS world, there's not nearly as many good matchups as last week, at least from 3:30PM onwards.  Two decent matchups, stick out: Illinois State vs. Youngstown State and  Southeastern Louisiana at McNeese State.  Both are available on ESPN3:

Not At Homecoming? Really? Watch the game here:

If you're not able to catch the Yale game in person - really?  You can't? -  you can stream the game here from the Patriot League Digital Network.  It's a 12:30 start and will be the same broadcast that's available over the air on SE2 in the Lehigh Valley, with Mike Zambelli and Mike Yadush on the call.

Patriot League Digital Network

If you're in the car and you have a phone, don't tear through your data plan - listen to Matt Kerr and Tom Fallon on the call, with Matt Markus reporting the pregame and sideline.  It's a simulcast of what's local in the Lehigh Valley on AM 1230 and AM 1320:

Last night saw three games of interest to Lehigh fans: Princeton remained undefeated by outlasting Columbia in a Nor'Easter, 10-5, Colgate nearly blew a 14 point lead but held on to beat Cornell 28-21, and Georgetown got trounced by Harvard 45-0.

Played at the same time today as Lehigh/Yale is Albany/Holy Cross (1:00 PM), which is available on Campus Insiders:

Also Bucknell plays a tough game at VMI, which is available on ESPN3:

Lafayette faces off against Fordham with a 6:00PM start, definitely a double-scouting opportunity to catch after Lehigh beats Yale:

Other games that might be of interest to Lehigh fans that aren't happening simultaneously with Lehigh's homecoming:

ESPN3 has a multitude of great games this afternoon and evening that have lots to do with the world of  FCS:

http://espn.go.com/watchespn/#type/upcoming/

There's two FBS upset possibilities:

Liberty at Georgia State (3:30 PM)
Eastern Kentucky at Kentucky (7:30 PM)

Some great Missouri Valley matchups, including the matchup of the week:

Indiana State at Missouri State (3:00 PM)
Youngstown State at South Dakota (3:00 PM)
Southern Illinois at Western Illinois (4:00 PM)
North Dakota State at South Dakota State (7:30 PM)

And a bunch of other matchups involving Top 25 teams:

Sam Houston State vs. Stephen F. Austin (4:00 PM)
Wofford at Mercer (6:00 PM)
South Carolina State vs. Furman (7:00 PM)

On broadcast TV, Penn State will destroy Army at the same time Lehigh is beating Yale (noon), but there's a chance to catch William and Mary face off against Delaware on the NBC Sports Network at 7:00 PM.
