Anyone know why he is leaving and where he is going. Only been here 2-3 years. Wasn’t he going to be a junior. Said on twitter. Thank you for degree. Playing basketball somewhere else next year

Seems so. Thanks for the heads up Trav. Got his LU degree in 3. Still has 2 years eligibility. Some school getting a really improved ball player.
    Wish him best luck.
Damn we have a lot of transfers out of program.

If I add it up we have 10 players on scholarship including the 2 recruits as of now for next year.
    Holy crap.

    Holy crap.

And that includes 2 bigs who have played 0 minutes in a combined 3 years on campus.

I’ve defended Doc … but the number of key transfers seems high the past four years.

    What’s going on?

    Is it usual? Unusual?

    What do exit interviews say?

Anyone know if there’s a common thread?

Just an odd spate of occurrences?

Is this program capable of surviving at a high PL level?

Not sure of a common thread.
BA is graduating and PL wont allow grad play.
Simo and Jenkins went home to D2 to start.
Shane also went home to a D1. He was a starter here. So homesick?
Between injuries and transfers Doc’s roster has beeen like a revolving door. Does not appear to present a common thread so much as a confluence of circumstances. Post CJ Doc has gotten access to smart kids and excellent Bball prospects. Simo and TJ left more from not being starters I think.

PL allows grad play. Many athletes have done it, including some basketball players.

Seems like women’s team lost a star who graduated after three years.

Good news is there’s room for HS stars to play right away, if any are still out there.

Apparent disagreement from two knowledgeable sources, Rich & Bison…. So who’s right? Does PL allow post-undergrad play in basketball?

Or another possibility, are his graduate plans for something Lehigh does not offer, like law school?

In any event I wish him well in the future. But here in the present, another question… Was Doc blind sided by this? Should someone have had an inkling that this would happen, and planned for it in recruiting?

Any issue as to PL rules, always go with Bison 137.
Either way BA off to elsewhere.
Doc? Dont know for sure but given his program philosophy I believe he had to be aware of the possibility. May be why he recruited 2 wings.
My question is why do we have only 10 schollie players. Bad luck in recruiting this year?

The PL bylaws specifically say that graduate students may play. Many PL athletes have been graduate students, including basketball students. For example, in the past eight years, Bucknell has had two players (Tyree and Fitzpatrick) enrolled only in grad school while playing.

Eligibility for grad students is mentioned in at least three places in the PL bylaws. Here is one:

“An extension of eligibility may be granted by a League institution for a student that completes the first baccalaureate in less than eight semesters of full-time study and continues full-time enrollment in a second baccalaureate or graduate degree program at the original certifying Patriot League institution.”
