Yes, Gum is a walk-on . Class now at 26. ( Too lazy to delete Turner from our list) Think Andy got most of what he wanted. Very good LM both sides , athletic LB and DB groups and the fastest WRs that we have had since Gerran. Both are exceptional athletes as well. Over all class has good size but with exceptional athleticism and speed. NCAA s sure do help with recruiting LOL.

Remaining task now for Dave is to rebuild the O and find a QB to run it. Spring practice will be interesting

Mercer and Buckhannon. Seems unlikely . Buckhannon an excellent RB but not better than either Brown or Kee. Mercer a FB/LB , guess if Andy wants a FB, already have 5 LBs. Both good players but ……..

After what appeared to be a slow start, this is turning out to be a pretty good looking class. Maybe the NCAA tourney run delayed us a bit, some pretty good gets late in the game, however. Only area not recruited was QB, which is not an immediate need. Will definitely want a couple in the pipeline next year.

I feel like the kid in Oliver Twist “Can I have more sir?” My guess is there are still a few out there that Andy wants. Equally likely that SID just hasn’t gotten around to amending recruit article. Of course in years past, we did not find out about changes in recruit class until Spring practice. Thank God practice only a couple of weeks away. Been following the Tweets of a bunch of the players. 6AM workouts and lifting evenings. Dedication , talent and effort, now just need a QB

Three new recruits officially announced: Whitcombe was not one of them

•Matthew Cohen, a 6-foot-6-inch, 280-pound offensive lineman from Plainview, N.Y. Cohen was an honor roll student in high school, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball and played in the band and jazz band.

•Hayden Jones, a 5-foot-11-inch, 180-pound wide receiver/kick returner from Altamonte Springs, Fla., who was a 2011 Florida All-State selection, Florida 4A District Player of the Year, Central Florida All Star and Lake Highland Prep MVP.

•Rene Molinari, a 6-foot-3-inch, 260-pound defensive lineman from Kensington, Md., was a four-year football letter winner, two-time first-team All-County defensive tackle, All-Gazette offensive lineman in 2011, recipient of Coaches Award in 2009 and recipient of team MVP award in 2011. He received several scholar-athlete awards, was a two-time student of the month and a member of Spanish National Honor Society.
