On official visit today on campus. Transferring from East Carolina. Interesting.

Academic major at ECU was communication.
Wonder if CJ’s TV role has any impact on recruits. (LOL)June 7, 2016 at 9:36 am #26959
He has to sit one year?June 7, 2016 at 12:16 pm #26960
Seems so.June 7, 2016 at 12:47 pm #26961
For some reason, I find that I’m always skeptical about bringing in transfers. However, with our current roster situation, it seems to make a lot of sense this year.
But with that said, I guess I would have expected a forward addition. Maybe this indicates positive first impressions with all the new forwards?June 7, 2016 at 1:46 pm #26963
Is this a done deal?
We have very little history of bringing in transfer students but I gotta say it has been highly productive. Joe Knight and Austen Rowlands come to mind immediately.June 7, 2016 at 1:51 pm #26964
Not done, that I’m aware of, TMH. Just an official visit. But “official” leads me to believe that it’s serious.June 7, 2016 at 1:52 pm #26965
Here is his write-up at East Carolina
Sounds like Glover a bit in that he excelled in HS..not so much at E. Carolina. Just may not have been a good fit. Looks to have 2 years remainingJune 7, 2016 at 2:03 pm #26966
One big difference between JRG and Tejada is that JRG’s offers our of high school were of the low and mid-major variety, and I think he may have only had 3 or so. Tejada had offers from the ACC, Big 12, and SEC coming out of high school and was a pretty universal 3* recruit.
He clearly didn’t live up to that at ECU, but it looks like he does have talent.June 7, 2016 at 2:47 pm #26968

I will be somewhat surprised if Reed opts to use 3 scholarship years to get 2 years of play from Tejada. There is a reason that he announced he was transferring in March and still hasn’t found a landing spot. True, he had s number of good offers in HS – but at ECU he shot horribly, both on twos and threes, and had a very high turnover rate. Some on the ECU board say he had a bad attitude, but I have no first hand info on this.

I must be missing something. This seems like a very good fit. I believe Coach had a scholarship to give next year but didn’t want to use it because it would have created a large class to replace 4 years from now. So that eliminates the 3 for 2 problem (remember Knight and Rowlands…that seemed to work out.)
If Doc is thinking that the incoming class is too large, it means that Holba and Sedore are planning to redshirt. The class Tejada would be playing with would have have one player scheduled to graduate (Leufroy). This would really help even out the classes.
Am I missing something?June 7, 2016 at 11:29 pm #26974
I have to think this guy has potential to tear it up against the lesser competition of the PL. The American is a good basketball conference.June 8, 2016 at 12:15 am #26975
I’m inclined to think there’s potential contribution there too. However, his game log at ECU last year is bizarre. I was poking through box scores, and he’d have a game with big minutes and very good production, and then the next game – nothing. Like 4 minutes in some cases. Must be some kind of story there.June 8, 2016 at 2:36 pm #26978
He was in battle for PG spot and didn’t win it, and played poorly, for the most part, when he got time. Under Jeff Lebo, ECU has had a lot of unhappy players transferring out. Two bad seasons in a row since ECU got in American and 3 transfers this year alone. Change of scenery could be good for him. Looks like he could get minutes on the wing when AP leaves, as he would sit for a year. Looks like a combo guard in the PL.June 10, 2016 at 1:20 am #27005
He has officially transferred to Lehigh
