2024 schedule

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

2024 schedule

Post by CHIP72 » Fri Mar 29, 2024 6:30 pm

It looks like Lehigh's 2024 schedule has been posted on the Lehigh Sports website:

https://lehighsports.com/sports/football/schedule/2024

The most notable items on the schedule IMO are:

1) Game against a DI-A/FBS opponent (season opener at Army on Friday, August 30th)

2) BACK-TO-BACK bye weeks in early October (play games for five consecutive weeks through September 28th, then play six straight weeks from October 19th through November 23rd)

I'm not sure what took them so long. The schedule has been posted online months ago but not on the Lehigh website.

I suppose in order to get Army on the schedule, it needed to be in August which would necessitate an additional bye week. It would have been nice to get 2 rest breaks during the season but this is a young team again who will have trial by fire. Two weeks can b a welcome break to correct eveything that needs correcting before heading into the heart of PL play. (That's my silver lining :-))

Army is a tough opener. A reality check. A mediocre FBS team but at a higher level than ours at present.
The double bye is novel. Could be great for us to reset, coach and heal for the PL run.
Who is taking snaps at QB for Army?

I would assume that Perri will start the season and it will be his position to lose but Cahill is gearing up for Johnson eventually. The longer he has to acclimate himself to the college game, the better.

I wonder about Silbor. Given the recruit class clear that coaches don't expect him back. Likely his schollie has been used for this class. But,what if he does anyway?

Ny guess is that his schollie for this year was used to keep Perri in the fold to help transition the new kids. Just my guess.

He's gone. Went home to AZ. I am sure his scholarship is now in use by someone.

I am surprised LU is only playing 11 games this season. It is one of the rare years when the calendar allows FCS teams to play 12 games. Bucknell has 12 games on their schedule, as do holy cross, Colgate, Fordham, Lafayette, and probably Georgetown. Also many of the other Northeast FCS schools.

Is it possible LU is still trying to find a 12th game to replace one of those byes?

Dunno 137 Did hear something about a shifting Army game date. Joe not a particularly adventurous scheduler in any event.

My guess is that Cahill is happy to have the break where it falls for reasons stated, above. Playing Army early may be the best time to play them. First games can be rough for any team, plus they won't have film on us if staff want to plan some funky stuff. We know what the Cadets run. I hope the University plans a decent event for the Alums to gather 'round at West Point. Night game makes it more difficult.
