This Program Is An Embarrassment

9 games deep in an 11 game OOC schedule. We have 2 BS D3 wins, and 7 L’s.

BC away is a loss, and Marist away, also likely a loss. So, we will likely go D1 winless in the OOC portion of the schedule. Dismal.

With next 4 on the road, we should go into our home PL opener at 2-11. Against our arch-rival Bucknell, we will likely draw about 500 home fans, and outside of the cheerleaders, no students. Can it get any worse?

Only two positives I see are the arena is so empty that Reed can likely hear you when you yell at him. And, with nobody there, your chances to get selected for the Goosey Gander half court shot are pretty good.

Can we stop saying Reed is a great recruiter? I keep reading it on this Board. It’s not true. He’s not a good recruiter anymore. Our talent level is poor. And, his coaching only makes it worse.

Reed has never been great. CJ won in Bethlehem in spite of him not because of him.

That said, I think Reed has had some excellent assistants over the years (Logie, Krueger, Griffin, and Wyche most prominently) that helped mask his issues.

What we see now is Reed without a future NBA star and without top assistants.

Yes, but, at least they won't go 1-23 as in 1974-75.

(This has them at only 0-16 ... )

Their only win in 1974-75 was over Gettysburg, but they lost to Elizabethtown, both DIII schools.

I remember a game in winter of '73-74 when the campus had a power outage during a game at Grace Hall. The Brown and White 'reported' that the team's shooting percentage doubled during the black out...

I probably posted this before but yes Lehigh beat Gettysburg 72-62 on 2-1-75

Gettysburg beat Bucknell 71-59 on 2-22-75

Bucknell beat Pitt 77-66 on 1-11-75

Pitt beat Notre Dame 84-77 on 1-13-75

Notre Dame beat UCLA 84-78 on 1-25-75

UCLA was crowned National Champion.

We was robbed.

So maybe that 1-23 was not all that bad after all ... :-)

Probably right Rich. Their schedule in '74-745 seemed to be a strange hybrid of Div 1 and Div 3 teams like they were preparing to transition.

However they played Lehigh, Lafayette and Bucknell twice that year so same conference perhaps ECC?

Since I'm done discussing Lehigh basketball for the foreseeable future, I digress:

College sports was way different back in the early 60's. My dad was a Bucknell alum and we lived about 8 miles from the Bison campus, so went to a bunch of games at ancient & cavernous Davis Gym. Gettysburg was always and interesting opponent. Sensitivities be damned, they were (and still are!) called The Bullets. A sampling of the their 1963 basketball opponents: Hofstra, Lehigh, John's Hopkins, Bucknell, Delaware, Albright, Elizabethtown, Penn State, Temple, Rutgers(who they beat!), F&M, Muhlenburg, Westminster.....

A shame collegiate sports have become so much more of a rigidly structured money sport...unless you're one of the kids getting the big bucks in NIL !

I think Lehi, Laf, Buck, Del, Gburg, Rider were Mis Atlantic Conference West(?) We also played all in Football then (except Rider never had FBall). Last year of Gburg that year in D1. (D2 in Fball) I was at the football game there that year (74). What I most remember is the bands. G's Band was the only one that the 97 did not, basically humiliate. (ok blue hens had a good band, but comparatively humorless. They did a "marching G-Burg). We said before our performance that "this will be will be the last time a college band performs here". Lots of back and forth $hit.
