Week-End Salvo
Week-End Salvo
We should be getting up for breakfast and checking bracket paths for the Quarterfinals and consolations...... where we would find Paetzell, Humphreys, Kutler and Wood in the quarters. Not sure about Weiler -- I'm still playing that rubber match with Louie DePrez over in my head.
Back to reality:
Filled out the 2020 Census on-line and it was a breeze.
There have been a number of very strong high school teams in the past loaded with elite D1 talent. back in the late 90s, Graham-Paris had Joe Heskett, Sonny Marchette and another guy who's name eludes me [EDIT: Jeff Knupp]. St. Eds, Blair, Bergen Catholic -- all had some high quality stars at the same time.
But this year, Wyoming Seminary has three (3) Number 1 ranked wrestlers in their weight classes....not sure that has ever happened before. Nick Bouzakis, soph, 126, Beau Bartlett, sr, 138 (Penn State) and Lachlan McNeil, sr, 145 (UNC) -- in addition SEM has another 4 wrestlers ranked in the top 20 at their weights. Wow.
In fact, most of the power teams this year in high school all come from a tightly grouped geographical area: SEM, Blair, Delbarton, Bergen Catholic. No wonder teams from the mid-west and west have no problem traveling east for duals; that's where the talent is.
There is talent everywhere these days, including Texas, but the concentration in the NY/NJ/PA/Ohio corridor is deep....and reliable....31 wrestlers from New Jersey alone qualified for the D1 NCAA tournament: roughly 10%.
Glad to see Lehigh sign SEM senior Drew Bunch #8 at 132 especially after having Chris Weiler in the room for 4 years now. Hopefully LU can continue harvesting this pipeline.
Gotta go, our group is meeting to predict the next round .....ooops!
Have a great week end everyone!

Don't you feel like you just want to tap your ruby red slippers together and go home?
Things have gotten so weird so mind blowing fast!
If we ever get back to "normal" I do like the state of Lehigh's program. Nice incoming class combined with a solid core will make for a very competitive team. Most pressing need is 197, 285 for when Jake and Jordan graduate.

Re: Week-End Salvo
Rough first day for the Brown and White in the Track Wrestling fictitious tourney. Only Kutler and Wood in championship bracket. Poor Brandon was dissed with 2 and out.
Re: Week-End Salvo
Oracle, you mean Walsh-Jesuit not Paris-Graham
Re: Week-End Salvo
Yes. Thank you.
Re: Week-End Salvo
I filled out the census two nights ago and agreed, it was simple. Did my fed taxes yesterday; not so simple. The new schedules that were added last year to make things simpler did the reverse; for the most part they're just extra sheets of paper where you write down a number from Schedule B, C, or D before writing it again on 1040. Then there's moving ahead to complete Line 9 (and the two forms needed for that) before you can complete Line 5. Always an experience.

It looked to me that Brandon tweaked his fictitious cruciate ligament in that flurry in the 1st bout. He seemed far less aggressive after that. Not making excuses but...

I thought I saw that too, TMH. This time of year they are all hurt. The boys better pick it up or Simulated Pat is going to be pissed!
