Things to Come?
A sign of the times for athletic departments or a bump in the road?

I don't know from reading a different article if it was directly covid. Martin alluded to it but the article started off saying it was the result of a six month study.mh1 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 6:09 pm A sign of the times for athletic departments or a bump in the road?

Covid is a convenient excuse. They dropped a sport that doesn't produce revenue and isn't played by women.
25 years ago Liberty dropped wrestling (the first time) just before school started. Don Schuler was the coach and he found himself out of a job on no notice. Liberty was going bankrupt at the time, was laying off professors and staff, admitting everyone who applied; there was one bank in town that would cash their paychecks. Several years later Jerry was telling people that wrestling had been dropped due to Title IX. Just an excuse.

I suspect that when ODU moved to FBS football, something had to give, very tough to compete with the big guys if you are not a big guy
Re: Things to Come?
Friends and family programs are easy to cut.
Re: Things to Come?
Sad news. We need every program....this cancels out ARK-Little Rock coming on board.
The NCAA should re-configure tournament sites for D1 and get US Bank Stadium back ASAP. It would have catapulted the sport big time. This is the time for action, not re-action.

Re: Things to Come?
Probably no need to bump either St Louis or Detroit, but 2023 to Minn Makes sense (but will as many Iowa fans go in that year with PSU likely the odds-on favorite?_) Alternatively, try using the indoor football Stadium in St Louis or Detroit(although TheMAt has a lot of complaints about Ford Field for Michigan HS States) But switch to the format usually used for basket ball with seats from the 25 to 50 yard lines)Oracle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 9:08 am Sad news. Only Two other indoor football fields that I can think of within the normal area of the NCAA Championship, Indianapolis and Syracuse.
