But hammer and javelin catching are much more entertaining!

The second one is more esoteric.

Beat me to it! I was going to say that when they starting hammer catching, I'll watch.

Remember the episode of The West Wing when CJ was explaining to Bartlet that, when he pardoned one of two Thanksgiving turkeys, the winner was pardoned and the loser was eaten? "If they ran the Oscars like that I'd watch."

Ditto on the javelin.

I went to HS with Rob Roggy who set the Collegiate and World record until an untimely death.

In my senior years I tried to teach myself how to throw a javelin and was doing ok until a combination of age and back problems intervened. Requires good technique. Not like throwing a baseball, snowball or a hand grenade. Do it wrong and your arm will immediately tell you, and in a big way.

You guys never go to any Marvels Avengers movies. Thor Catches his Hammer in almost every one.

Much Prefer Rhythmic Gymnastics to Artistic (main Stream) Gymnastics. The Latter you are looking at HS Girls weho look like Middle School Girls. At least RG uses college age women who look like college women.

Also, before there was girls wrestling, Don Saynenga made an excellent argument that wrestling should Marry Miss Rhythmic Gymnastics. Unlike the other flavor which uses mats with springs, RG uses the same kind of mat as us.

Also Simon Biles Uber Eats commercials are really stupid as opposed to Piccard v Skywalker.

And as I have said many times M Soccer, M BktBall, Baseball, M Ice Hockey, M+W Golf, M+W Tennis do not belong in the Olympics, Olympic Gold is not the "Ultimate Goal" of those athletes.

He lived in the house next to where I live. The HS track complex is named Bob Roggy Field.

(a college teammate, who was an All-Ivy hammer thrower, was actually hit in the head by a thrown hammer whose handle caught the edge of the cage, whipped around the cage and caught him a glancing blow)

Were there any team sports or performance sports in the original concept of the Olympics? They have gotten way off track. I agree, too much human interest stories, and not enough focus on just showing the sport. I watch very little of it because of that.

Lehigh Valley becoming prominent in track.
Joe Kovac (Becahi/Penn State) World Champ in Shot Put. Interesting enough, Mike Hartenstein (Bethlehem Liberty) still owns the D11 Record. The oldest dated back to 1971.

There is a young man at Nazareth, Collink Burkhart, who didn't get Jr year States and who knows for this year, but is the #1 or #2 ranked Javelin thrower in the country. Going to Penn State which has a good field teams coaches.

There also was a girl from Easton Channelle Price who was 800m World Indoor Champ.

There were not. Assuming you mean the 1896 Olympics and not the ancient Games.

There was a single weight class in wrestling. The winner was also the gymnastics champion. Clearly, they didn't get everything right.
