drd,

Thanks for the clarity on Jordan. If Humphreys does not participate this year, does that mean he would have 3 more years after that because of the free year?

I didn't believe it when I first read the release, but yes, that's what it means. Which is bizarre, when you consider that they wouldn't make an exception to give guys who wrestled last year a shot at a 4th NCAA tournament, but some guys who wrestle this year have a shot at five.

You have to read the release very carefully, but my interpretation is that this is a free year only for guys who actually compete this year. So Humph can't redshirt and then get three more years; Yianni can't miss this year and wrestle three more seasons, either.

But Yianni could transfer to another school, wrestle this year, and then have two more seasons. Probably at any school of his choice.

Not surprised. And if Humph is out, wouldn't be surprised if we see Manzona IV at 157 (or 149). Didn't come from a big name high school program. Looking forward to what this kid may be able to do with top coaching, workout partners and competition.

All the True Frosh get a free redshirt year correct?
So Lawrence could compete and still Redshirt, Same with the other guys like Seymour can step in if needed.

I don't look at it that way. A freshman who redshirts has four more years remaining. A freshman who wrestles has four more years remaining. I see it as a free year of competition, not a free redshirt year. Lasts one year, turns into a pumpkin at midnight.

What I am getting at is, eg, Paetzell and Polito, the only older guys who are likely certified at 125, both must miss a competition, but both will be OK for the next. Other years it would be pull Seymour or Barnabae's redshirt, or fft the weight. Not a problem this year.

Think back to Jarrett's true Frosh year. His Shirt was pulled for what turned out to be 1 bout. Although it seems likely he could get it back because of the injury. (?)

Obviously one can get a little bit better competition if they wrestle duals, instead of just opens

this would be great, especially if Meyer can go at 157 while Humph shirts

With 8 place winners from 10 man brackets Obviously he would have a good shot at being a 5 time place winner. Actually that would seem likely for any super frosh at any of the other active schools (excepting AWP, Navy, and probably Buck)
