I believe Dietrich was 39, 2 years older than Medved
Picture was Greco. WT? Do you mean WD? I believe the failure(s) in FS might have been for going OB more than poor technique. Back then if the head touched out it was OB even with continuation.

Amazingly, Happy H lived into his 60s, if you believe Wikipedia.

"In the spring of 1965, Humphrey left the clinic where he had lived the previous two years. He weighed a comparatively healthy 232 lb (105 kg), a total loss of 570 lb (260 kg) since he was admitted. Humphrey won a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as "champion slimmer" for this weight loss."

WT is correct. After WD hit that move, everyone said What The (insert any relevant 4 letter word.

The famous picture that became a poster was of freestyle, I think.

Back to the original topic, here is a short interview with Pat recently on what adaptations are being made.

Interesting comments on the above facebook posting:

"Matthew Abad
The ref scored the match wrong, back then touch fall was in effect and the Germán ended up flat on his back (he was pinned under those rules) before arching and turning Taylor to Taylor’s back.

Matthew Abad that is exactly how I remember watching it live. Even the announcer mentioned the pin of Dietrich by the rules regardless of who initiated the move. In a later interview the referee said that with the size difference between Taylor and Dietrich he felt "sympathetic" towards Dietrich and thus was not impartial in his judgement of the match. Taylor got screwed out of a pin-win."

I'm wondering if the ref was on the take. Would the German have risked serious injury on a move that if properly called under the existing rules would result in him being called pinned?
