I would think there must be some guys out there who majored in XXX, and have now decided they want to coach HS, and Teach XXX in HS. But they don't have any education credits. That is, if I understand correctly, is Exactly what Lehigh's Masters of education is for. Someone who majored in Math, or Chemistry, or History would now like to teach said subject. Heck, we could have had Steve Mocco learn how to teach Pottery (?) had he had a year left.

I don't know about other states but PA only requires that you have a BA and a teaching certificate that doesn't require a ME. Primarily, I believe, the College of Education at Lehigh was designed for teachers looking to move up the pay scale and prepare for a job outside the normal classroom like in Administration. That doesn't mean the situation you described could not be used but are you aware of any Lehigh athlete who transferred into our Education College?

I honestly don't know.

You can definitely start teaching without education education. But wages will increase more with a masters. If you are going to spend the time and money, spend it on something useful rather than underwater basket weaving. This should be an option for all lehigh coaches, unless the Patriot league says no 5th year covid grad transferss.

Just because our coaches have not used it yet does not mean they should not.

generally the schools out there like you be fully versed in all the latest social justice warrioring topics. Critical race theory, PC-everything, blurred gender lines, socialism, 1619 project, etc. You can really crack the code on pay (and lifestyle upgrade) when you learn how to make your local teacher's union eligible for federal bailout money.
Lehigh is an excellent place to gain this credential.

There's an article in the Times today about people suffering from Long Covid, including some who barely had symptoms when they had the virus months ago. Also saw the report that Knicks guard Derrick Rose was "flattened" by Covid -- his whole family had it but he, the professional athlete in the prime of life, had the most severe case. It occurred to me that this could be the Great Leveler, that a lot of the guys in the transfer portal may find spots to replace other wrestlers who have had Covid and are making slow, or partial, recoveries. It might turn out that some teams need the 6th-year seniors, the true freshmen, the transfers, and anybody else they can muster in order to field a full, healthy team. We don't know in most cases exactly who has had, or is still going to contract, Covid, but we know that many if not most teams were affected. One EIWA coach reported that he'd had nine positive cases and that was before our tournament. If that's typical for Div I teams, it's a significant number and not all of those guys will return to their old selves.
