LU Lower Weights 21-22
Re: LU Lower Weights 21-22
I'll take a 2-Greeker bet for Top 15, once God tells us who'll be back. Having 3 guys returning who've been seeded Top 10 in the past is above average vs many seasons. Am on my knees now, God, hoping it'll soothe some naysayers.

FWIW, this is wrestlestats NCAA way-too-early prediction for Lehigh's squad (which they project to be 22nd): https://www.wrestlestat.com/rankings/to ... /37/lehigh
Re: LU Lower Weights 21-22
That must mean Paetzell's coming back, right?

Re: LU Lower Weights 21-22
I'm confused, does god decide the distribution of 9.9 scholarship money? Cause I have a feeling that will determine who's back next season at a school that costs in the seventy thousands without receiving scholarship money......
Unless your new nickname for Pat Santoro and staff is god.......which wouldn't surprise me actually......

I don't think it is that simple. The NCAA allows 9.9 wrestling scholarships. Lehigh also awards need-based scholarships, academic scholarships etc. I believe I read somewhere that approx 50% of the students at Lehigh are getting need based aid avg between $40-50K over their 4 years.Spladle1989 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 1:23 pm I'm confused, does god decide the distribution of 9.9 scholarship money? Everybody has a plan and they are all different. Some may be wanting to go to grad school anyway. Some don't want to hang up wrestling just yet. Some who got substantial aid to this point are willing to make the monetary sacrifice hoping the additional degree will benefit them down the road.
Part of the reason that Lehigh is so successful in lacrosse this year is because 5 significant contributors decided to come back for a 5th year.

Re: LU Lower Weights 21-22
Not disagreeing with what you are saying TMH....not saying it is simple and there aren't other factors involved but I still believe it is the over riding factor for many......sure there are exceptions (McKenna comes to mind for some reason).......but at the end of the day how much debt do you want versus wrestling one more year ? If you add say $35,000 to your debt load to wrestle one more year, how long is it going to take to pay that off? You could grad transfer to a good state school for your graduate degree for one year and probably add 1/5th of that to your debt load or just hang them up and add nothing......
If your percentage of 9.9 drops or is eliminated completely, you've got a hard decision to make.......much easier decision at a state school where the starting number isn't so high......

Re: LU Lower Weights 21-22
Just a thought but it may be possible that the coaching staff has been preparing for this. If I look over the recruiting class for 2021, I don't see many that would have required a big part of that 9.9. 2022 is a different story.
Re: LU Lower Weights 21-22
I've suspected the same. But losing Ruth unexpectedly probably freed up some aid. Not sure how unexpected the losses of Farro and Weiler were to the staff.

Interesting lineup. Anybody know how wrestlestat arrives at their projected lineups? Information from subject school's coaching staff? Guesswork on the part of wrestlestat? Throwing darts at a board?NothingMeaningful wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 10:52 amFWIW, this is wrestlestats NCAA way-too-early prediction for Lehigh's squad (which they project to be 22nd): https://www.wrestlestat.com/rankings/to ... /37/lehigh
