D3….not sure if you noticed but Morristown HS, NJ picked up a state place winner (3rd) at 132…Jack Myers. He’s a junior. Hopefully he can get the appropriate documentation to be allowed into Pa.
Re: NEW JERSEY STATE TOURNAMENT
Oh, I sure DID noticed Myers from Mo-town nabbing third place last Saturday, BP
Highest NJSIAA placer for the Colonials since Dorian Ritchie @ 102 (3rd) in 1987 (I was one of his coaches when he wrestled for the Twin Town Tigers in his youth. )
It's kind of surprising that Morristown only had one state champ in it's entire history... Renard Haskins 2X champ, 3X place winner(3rd his soph. year.)
They had relatively strong teams in the 60's to early '70's, Then mid to late'80's for the Twin Town bunch to cycle through.
D3
Sir, a pint of you finest ale, please!
Never argue with an idiot... he'll bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Re: NEW JERSEY STATE TOURNAMENT
Morristown hasn't had a lot of state place winners since some of the state level wrestlers in town end up at Delbarton (also in Morristown) for some reason. (Nick Farro being the most recent example)

From Flo:
"Richie Grungo put together one of the weekend’s most impressive runs in arguably the state’s toughest weight — 144 pounds — and he did it without giving up a takedown. After beating returning state placer Jamar Dixon in the quarters and for the third time this year, Grungo then decked the #1 seed and #14 in the nation Julian George to punch his ticket to the finals. In the finals, facing one of the state’s most explosive wrestlers, Yannis Charles, Grungo scored a takedown and back points in sudden victory to win it all in dramatic fashion."

Don’t know where Myers was as a freshman , but last year as a Morristown sophomore he beat P’Burg’s James Day in the Region 3 final. This year, he medically defaulted to P’Burg’s top seed Gavin Hawk in the Region 3 final (he was losing at the time). Then in the second round of States, he took Hawk down with 10 seconds left to beat him 5-3.
