EIWAs day two

Post by martinsilvestri » Sat Mar 09, 2024 6:52 am

Wrestling starts at 1030 on the last day of the EIWAs as we know it.

Semifinals:
Stanich faces Berginc. Luke didn't wrestle at Army so this is a new one. As others have said, first match after weigh-in may be toughest. Army has been fired up and this is no joke.
Crookham faces Phipps - a known commodity.
Hines draws Chappell, who he has beat soundly.
Brignola will have to face Revano. I hope he is ready for some dirty tricks and classless wrestling. Revano pulled off the win last time they met then lost a team point for taunting fans. One of the worst on a very scummy squad.
Beard will face Stout, while Cardenas gets DePrez. Have to like Beard's chances against Stout, although Stout is coming off a domination over Urbas and did not wrestle in the dual.
Taylor gets Fernandes who he beat 6-2 during the dual.
Logan and Griffin are still alive in consolations and both draw lower seeds next round.

Berginc in the LEHIGH/Army dual up at Christl Arena lost to Seymour 4-1... a TD in the closing seconds of the 3rd pd. It SHOULD be Stanich all the way... we'll see how he rolls after the weigh-ins, being the first weight class up this morning.

Crookham dec. Phipps in his dual last season... and Phipps only scored an escape on Seymour wrestling up a wt. ... Seymour was on a TD shot that didn't score in the closing seconds.

As I mentioned earlier on in this topic subject, Hines TF Chappell in this seasons dual @ Grace... took the whole bout to do so.

AH, Brigs vs Revano... the revenge dish best served cold. I'm sure all of you will be all eyes on this match. If there ever a bout that we are anticipating a reversal of fortune, it would be THIS! Even the Quaker Oates Guy would be frowning on this jerk! Max must be focused keenly and up the shot count... first take down would be telling of this bout direction. Please, please, PLEASEtake this bout, MAX... and kick him to the curb!

Griffin has Columbia's Fedelen, the 12th seed... and soph and short (5'5"). On paper, Griffin should win this... but nobody wrestle on paper! ;)

Logan, the 7th seed is going up against Berg from Harvard, the 9th seed. Berg was the sub for KIm who was going @165 until being scratched. Berg is a Jr. and is rostered @157... losing career rec. Logan, if he continues his "torrid" pace thru the consi bracket, should be favored here... operative word is should.

Beard has Stout from Princeton... Stout looks like chiseled granite, but Micheal TF Stout 15-0 @ the Midlands in the finals.

Taylor has Fernandes from Cornell... he won at home in the dual 6-2

As always... prior results does not necessarily guaranteed future outcomes. ;)
BUT... it's looking good here. :)

Any rumor / word on withdrawls at 133?

Got in to town just as wrestling ended last nite, ended up at Jackass Brewery and it was packed with a Cornell function……not a big place, then ended up at Matty’s where a bunch of Lehigh wrestlers/coaches and Cornell coaches were….

I believe that was the 1st time that Stanich gave up nearfall points in his LU career... and still won it.
He'll face Ungar in the finals... and it wont be easy.

Crookham takes it 10-3... not the prettiest win, but a "W" none the less.
Want that dream final match up?
Ya got it now... Crookham/Arujau II.

Sh!t!
Hines lost in OT... to a guy that he TF in the reg season dual.
A second chance go (from an early "fall" situation that was wiped away for injury tieout) that came up snake-eyes (he had the lead w/ a reversal, until that last sec TD by the Bison.)
