Re: Transfer portal
South Mountain Way site looks great - no issues on my side. Excellent work, and thanks to those who made this happen!

>>>>>> Agree 100%
Now it becomes a question of priorities. In my humble opinion—— elite talent is the key and NIL will help attract and retain top talent to represent Lehigh University.
Summer wrestling, travel to tournaments in the US and abroad, LVWC workout partners ,etc are all good , but they will not produce AAs and NCAA champions unless we have elite talent.

Re: Transfer portal
If anyone here was privy to the dollars that are involved for these elite 1-year grad students, you would blush. Lehigh doesn't swim in that pool. Offering a graduate program is a pipe dream for someone who is focused on winning a national title. They want a room where they can be challenged and yeah, they want the big money. Anyone thinking it's not there for wrestling is mistaken. IMO.
Re: Transfer portal
At this point, we need 3-4 weightclasses that rank in the Top 50. A couple of Columbia guys went south and not for big money. More likely for the southern atmosphere of Chapel Hill and Blacksburg. At this point, it is all about marginal improvement at a number of weights and graduate school transfers with or without NIL can get you there.Oracle wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 3:56 pm If anyone here was privy to the dollars that are involved for these elite 1-year grad students, you would blush. Picking the right graduate program is a +$1 to $2 million lifetime benefit for a good academic student, especially if finance, MBA, tech, or a transition year of biology, chemistry, organic chem and applying to medical school. There is great value for those 18 credits of 9cr Fall and 9dr Spring for someone we need Ranked in Top 33.
As of now, 149 to 184 is not off the charts strong to score any points at NCAA in 2025. We could still use 5 proven young men who have earned points at NCAA.

>>>>>>>> One of the key elements of successful coaching in today’s environment is consistently raising significant amounts of money—— and then using those funds to maximize team and individual performance.
If Lehigh doesn’t currently ‘swim’ in the deep end of the financial pool, then the coaching staff needs to address the situation and figure out how to bring in sufficient funds and allocate the money to compete with the big boys.
Millions for a LVWC endowment might be better targeted to wrestlers that wear a Lehigh singlet.
Dresser mentioned in an interview last fall that funding is flowing toward IowaSt wrestlers and away from RTC wrestlers.
Koll mentioned in a recent interview that he spends hours every day talking/meeting with alums/boosters to bring in funds——— something he likes doing——-making friends with folks that can help his program.

Re: Transfer portal
Buying a one year grad student can be demoralizing element to the young guys looking to break into the lineup. So unlike many, I think our coaches will & should be very cautious to upset the team atmosphere that exists here by portal shopping.
I believe that Mays provides great hope at 165 & Shoppe at 174. Brignola can still emerge despite his disappointing NCAA performance. 184 appears go be a hopeless gap unless stud recruit Caden Rogers has been holding back from demonstrating something we have not seen heretofore. So this would be the only weight I would consider a one year fix.
Griffin or Repos offer promise at 149.
The real question is will Stanich grow 2 weights this summer to win the 141 spot from Hines?

Re: Transfer portal
Grad transfer Connor Brady VA Tech available at 165 4x National Qualifier. 2-7 record at NCAA. WS#26
Re: Transfer portal
Or it brings a level of competition to push the younger wrestlers to up their game and close the gap in that one year. Meys will be entering his 4th year of college wrestling after 2 NJ State titles. He has not transitioned well. He is 23-20. His best win is over #43 and 0-6 against NCAA in Top 33. Dubler best win is over #72 and 0-3 to anyone in Top 50 to Top 60. Not there yet. Caden Rogers entering 3rd year in room 4-4 career record. Best win #34 his teammate JT Davis who moved up to 197. 0-3 against Top 33. Has 7-3 loss to #32 Brock Delsignore (NY) from NC State who is available in the portal. No guarantee that Caden Rogers will ever start again for Lehigh as Jack Wilt has closed the gap and is ranked #58.LUEngineer wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 10:55 pm Buying a one year grad student can be demoralizing element to the young guys looking to break into the lineup. Lehigh needs to take advantage of grad transfers. It is now 3 years that 165 to 184 has been suspect.
Re: Transfer portal
To HFO,
Mays has only wrestled D1 two years. He was a true freshman starter for Rider, then didn't wrestle a whole lot of bouts as an LU redshirt last season.
