He transfered highschools also. Maybe just a pattern. But we can hope there is something positive happening behind the scenes relative to filling the 165 gap.

Kyle Mosher from Columbia also -- maybe we pick him up?

Mosher was 10-10 and ranked #37 by wrestlestat. Hard to believe Mays would boogie on account of him coming in.

Strange that Mays would go to portal considering that he had a good chance to assume 165 spot. He is not an NIL prospect for anyone so why would he want to go anywhere else?

I'm on-board with THAT assumption pal, but I liked the kid's moxy, and anticipated his filling in-a-hole!

So yes LOI signings run concurrent with early admissions which is the conduit for which virtually all athletes formally become admitted to Lehigh.

I asked that question because I think the assumption is that it is always the athlete who reneges on the verbal commitment. I believe that there are times when it is the University that fails to accept the athlete, prior to the November signing period for many reasons including not maintaining academic standards.

We will never know how often that is the case.

Again, thanks.
Happened 3 years ago to Anderson from Bethlehem Catholic who was to go to Iowa State, but ultimately was not academically accepted. Late admission to DIII Centenary during COVID year and was 149lber of the year at DIII level. Transferred to Binghamton, dropped to 141 and had a mixed season. Was not on roster the next year and likely an academic casualty. It happens.

Mays has only wrestled D1 two years. He was a true freshman starter for Rider, then didn't wrestle a whole lot of bouts as an LU redshirt last season.
Check yourself. Clearly states he will be entering 3rd year with a 4-4 record. Now he has gone. Case closed.

Best grad transfers still available.
Any 2 would be a positive addition to the room and potential to start. The 165ers could go either 165 or 174. We still definitely need an upgrade at 165, 174, 184. Less so at 149 or 157 where it is about a wash in talent level.
149 #27 WS Jaivon Jones Northern Illinois
157 #30 Jason Kraisser Campbell/Iowa State
165 #24 Connor Brady VA Tech
165 #26 Kyle Mosher Columbia
165 #38 Charles Darracott Stanford
184 #32 Max Hale Penn
