5 th year options

Post by RichH » Sun Apr 05, 2020 10:03 am

PL has decided to leave the issue of senior Spring athletes to each institution. Inside Lacrosse that the lack of a grad school at some colleges has led to a number of seniors entering the portal to use their remaining eligibility. No Lehigh seniors have done so. Lehigh has decided to accommodate its seniors. How that will actually work remains to be seen.

What do you think the chances are that LU could pick up a 5th year Senior from the portal who wants to go to grad school?

Pretty good I think. The devil tho is in the details. How many of our seniors will elect to take a 5th? Will we have any available schollie money or just need aid? IIR many of our seniors already have job offers. How viable they remain is open given COVID-19.

Will LU extend the grad transfer application deadline? Lots of moving pieces to be resolved over the next month or so.

PL does not allow graduate transfers.

As long as they aren't graduate transfers. But is there a reason why someone would transfer out of Yale, Princeton, etc if they were still an undergraduate and could still play for their Ivy school?

Not confirmed but the word is that Gaffney, Eichelberger, McHugh and Citron will be returning for a fifth year. Not sure how they were able to work out the financial details but if true, the Hawks will be a formidable team next season, assuming there is one.

I don't know about the others but Gaffney will certainly qualify as a Presidential scholar.

The four Lehigh returning seniors mentioned in an earlier post have been confirmed in a June 19 Inside Lacrosse article. Also interesting that the article mentioned that some underclassmen may also come back for a 5th year after graduation.
