Post by News » Mon Apr 30, 2018 12:06 am

Expansion Pirates Set to Enter the Nest Allentown, PA:  The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks are back in the ‘Hawks Nest this weekend as they take on the Pirates of Massachusetts.  Kickoff is Sunday evening, at 6:00pm and will be viewable locally on Service Electric Cable TV.  This week’s game is presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network and features the first 1,000 fans receiving a FREE Steelhawks T-Shirt. *Game was previously scheduled for Saturday, April 28th but was moved due to the American Hockey League Calder Cup Playoffs* The Steelhawks (0-2) have had a disappointing start to the season so far, but have improved week to week.  Veteran Charles McClain has been the go to receiver in the young season (10 catches for 110 yards) but rookie Kip Patton Jr. had the bigger yardage plays in their last contest, snagging a 25-yard pass for a touchdown late in the game last week and throwing a touchdown pass as well. Both Steelhawks signal callers are threats with their legs, and amassed over 60 combines rushing yards last week against Maine.  Defensive Back Brandon Fuentes saw his first action in Steelhawks Gold last week and led the team in tackles with 6.5.  This week he’ll be looked upon to spark some big defensive plays against a tough Pirates passing attack. Massachusetts (2-1) are a brand-new expansion team to the NAL.  They got off to a great start to the season defeating Maine and Jacksonville but suffered a tough loss to Carolina last week.  They are led by Veteran Quarterback Sean Brackett and wide receiver London Crawford.  Wide Receiver Devonn Brown has been an early go-to target, recording four touchdown catches against Jacksonville.  Lehigh Valley will need to limit the Pirates chances in the red-zone to seal a victory in this contest Johnnie Lustig’s Frankfurters Keys to the Game for the Steelhawks:
  • Convert in the red-zone
  • Establish a pass rush
  • Play all four quarters
