This program has solid players, but it doesn't matter. They destroy talent. You could give this staff NFL talent and they'd find a way to lose to Colgate. Never in my life have I seen such incompetence.LUEngineer wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 9:30 pm What is his recruiting success over the past 2 years? What do we have in the way of a stud recruits other than Garcia?

Re: Colgate
Do we have a freshman or sophomore stud QB sitting on the bench?

Roster shows these QBs:LUEngineer wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 9:10 am Do we have a freshman or sophomore stud QB sitting on the bench?
Junior - from transfer portal
Junior
Soph - PWO
Soph
Frosh
I’d guess 5 full scholarships in the QB room before Beesmer left program.
Re: Colgate
The bigger question is do we have a coaching staff that can develop a young QB. Higgins’s and Coen’s staff developed young QBs. This staff has developed no one.LUEngineer wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 9:10 am Do we have a freshman or sophomore stud QB sitting on the bench?
These QBs look like deer in the headlights. It is truly sad. Kids come to a program with the expectations of being coached up. At Lehigh, they are beat down.
As stated previously, the state of the football program is 100% on Sterrett. He hired Gilmore and has done nothing to address what is a hopeless situation. This only gets fixed when the president addresses the DA problem.
Re: Colgate
This is a +1000 Hawk. OC seems incapable of developing talent, identifying the qualities of a gameday QB, or scheming to fit personnel. He should have been removed when Coen sadly left. This was a huge mistake. How the heck do you let the QB with the best stats since 2019, who is a legacy of the program, leave for the transfer portal? I know people who played with this young man's father at Lehigh and it is a disgrace what this staff did. Make the DC interim head coach and start fresh on November 21st. That is the only path forward.Hawkineer wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 10:03 amThe bigger question is do we have a coaching staff that can develop a young QB. If Sterett allows this toxic environment to continue, this program could be set back for years to come. I have seen it at other schools.

In a way, we are 0-11. Lehigh has played 11 consecutive games without a win.lu90 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 6:13 pmYou really want Sterrett to do the next search after this colossal screw up. I'm still not convinced he will concede that this hire was a epic failure just yet. Unless we go 0-11, which is a real possibility, I get this sinking feeling that he is willing to ride it out until the end of Gilmore's contract.

And 7 of those 11 are against PL opponents. Time to go.DF2002 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 3:14 pmIn a way, we are 0-11. Re: Colgate
I think 11 straight losses is the record. During ww2 we had a tie one year then 5 straight losses. Next year 0-5. But won the first game the next year.
I think?

Re: Colgate
Good news is we have 33 to go before we tie Columbia's losing record of 44.

I'd say most of us deplore quitters, but would there be a benefit to Gilmore and Brisson exiting now? Resigning effective Nov. 21 or?
Lehigh has had some humiliating losses the past few years. But not scoring a touchdown in four games? Losing 11 in a row?
You've got to feel really bad for the players -- and those committing now who want the Lehigh academic perks -- who thought they were going to play at a decent FCS level, but who collectively might not be able to beat a mediocre D2 or good D3 team.
