Penn

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

I was at the game yesterday. I saw TG interacting with a players in a much more positive matter than in previous years. The defense played really well until last 5 mins of game when they dealt with so many 3 and outs by offense. I believe our talent was just as good as theirs. Saw new young guys on oline getting a look. I just can't see a change of coaching staff until after season when everything gets evaluated including the players.

If one were concerned about TG closing out his career comfortably, he could be offered DC. I think agreement is he is qualified for that.

So who is your new head coach replacement ready to step in during the middle of recruiting season?

Dumb idea as my guess is that Gilmore is a good recruiter.

Agreed. Perspective. 3rd year of most rebuilds are the most frustrating. This one is so much worse given the O's epic ineffectiveness. No doubt there are numerous reasons underlying this but the salient fact is the lack of progress.Lack of talent? Inexperience? QB? Coaching? Dunno. Are these players that bad? No. But, the unit is that bad. Goal is to fix the unit.
After the season blame can be assigned and changes made.

Lots of good posts here, including HFO's on the institution itself. Waiting for Sterrett's "pending" retirement and Gilmore's contract to expire sounds like the conservative Lehigh approach.

After watching Lehigh's O yesterday, I can't believe I thought they'd score, no less 17 -- but I thought maybe Wilkinson would be back and ...

Anyone know the Lehigh or NCAA DI record for consecutive games without a TD?

Just saw this while trying to find the TD record:

"In the 1990s, the Prairie View A&M Panthers lost 80 consecutive games, nearly doubling the second longest Division I (FCS) losing streak held by Columbia (44). In 1991, the Panthers scored 48 points – all season."

https://www.nbcsports.com/longest-losin ... ts#slide-2

Will we get to 48? That would take 39 points over next five games.

Interesting observation. Amazing how being 0 for last 13 humbles someone. He’s likely looking for allies.

“The defense played really well”. Penn self destructed and ran for over 300 yards. Holy crap….stop. It was a defensive mess against a very weak opponent. Fordham might score 70.

Recruiting??? This class will be a disaster. What kid/family wants to be a part of that mess at Lehigh? In addition to the next class being a mess, watch how many young starters enter transfer portal. Force TG to resign now, effective 11/22 and begin the search process. That’s that only logical path forward.

The blame for 13 consecutive losses and 25 points over 9 games is quite obvious.

I don't follow all the Olympic sports, but the last coaching change for wins and losses that comes to mind is Sal Mentesana 20 years ago. And he had about 4 years of having among the worst teams in the country.

That's probably the best indication of whether or not a move is likely.
You know things are really bad when a coach is being mentioned in the same sentence as Sal Mentesana unless it is in the context of "he's a lot better than Sal Mentesana".

YIKES...YOU'RE RIGHT!

Some good Posts here especially by HFO who describes LU resting on its laurels. We need to move into the 21st Century and become a Top 300 University worldwide by offering online courses for a Certificate like Carnegie Mellon and Penn. Increase your exposure/reputation to thousands of students worldwide.
And yes, redo Board of Trustees as well. That way we avoid throwing money into bad programs like School of Health. We need CEOs bus leaders Lehigh grads armed with critical thinking. What about Charlie Dent? I see him on CNN all the time. I am not trying to get political, but when you google Lehigh it shows him as famous grad. My only dispute with HFO post is timing of TG dismissal which should be quicker ...pay the bums severance . Its not going be like Nick Saban lmao.
What do LUEngineer and Rich H see in these players that make them believe they are talented? Which players are those? The best player QB Bessmer went via Transfer portal thanks to this Coach and his problems!! IMO TG has done a very bad job of recruiting. LUFAN is spot on TG probably not very well liked by the players but now he needs them. With the debacle unfolding it will turn off too many potential student athletes . So you have to let Gilmore go effective 11/22/21. That's sending a better message and gives new kids a fresh start. Then say goodbye to Sterrett the end of 2022 school year.
