2022 Football Schedule

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

Given where we are in rebuilding, I am less concerned with novelty in the schedule than with the team getting Ws. 😀

It's great to see you posting again.

I personally want games that will challenge us but that we can be very competitive in. Villanova and Richmond provided a good barometer of where we don't want to be. I'm really interested in how much more competitive we will be next year.

Maybe Bucknell got paid well to play Army but as a fan that would have been excruciating.

Not bad. Not sure how much 'nova returns from this year's team; but I like the fact this has become a regular opponent. With some experience, now we might be able to catch a couple teams looking past us and take advantage. Hoyas will lose a lot this year. Very senior laden starters. Not sure what Monmouth will return, but they have become a stiff opponent. Holy Cross throttled them early this year, but they rebounded. Princeton will be very tough. Spiders coming here is cool. They had a lot of seniors in their starting 22 this year, and didn't have the season many were projecting. The Rams can be taken, as we saw in the Bronx, and the "Big Red" haven't been very big of late, followed by the other Nell at home. we have a bye before Holy Cross, which could be very fortuitous; before ending up up with our two "marooned" friends.
I see six games that are clearly winnable and couple others that we could steal with some breaks. Of course, there is also the game you should win and don't . Either way, it is a schedule that is challenging, yet provides some good measuring sticks to see if we are indeed growing.

Nova should be there annually as a constant reminder of how far we've fallen

In the modern era (since 2004) Lehigh is 1-10 against Villanova. The only win was Andy Coen's first win in 2006.
Villanova is not a measure of "how far we've fallen." One win in eleven games means we've never been on their level

Villanova & Richmond were 2 schools targeted as potential Patriot League additions for football assuming PL would become competitive when scholarships were announced.

Something went astray in that regard as the league got worse after that. We used to be competitive & hoping for turnaround next season.

Congrats to Gilmore for turning things around & holding the team morale together during the dark days of the season.

They dropped their program at one point and we were much better than them then. Whatever theyve done since has put and kept them on another level. So yes, be reminded each year by scheduling them.

What 'nova has done is join the CAA and fund their program accordingly. Until the Patriot League revises their rules regarding the use of grant-in-aid money and red shirting, we will always be swimming against the tide. But I like the challenge and wish we'd be able to play Delaware more regularly.
