Well said. Eric is top shelf!! Offense will not enjoy success until weak defenses line up in front of them. This is not a mystery, this is factual. I have no ax to grind with anyone at Lehigh, but this OC has proven himself incompetent.RichH wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 9:43 amEric and his S&C crew had a phenomenal summer. No complaints this season about undersized LBs and DL.The OL is enormous. Any good? Fingers crossed.LUopa wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 4:46 pm Princ, Rich and Villa are tough. Cornell and Monmouth are win possibles. Georgetown, Layf and Bucknell are must haves. Colg, Ford, HC will determine the success of season.
New updated roster out before camp starts tomorrow-
Ty Nicholas DL to OL
DL biggest we have seen in at least 5 years and tons of experience
OL very big too
Didn't notice much else except this group is bigger than last 4 squads.
Offense has the skills talent and a capable enough QB. Will we have an OL? If so,then the issue is whether OC crafts an O that these players can execute.
PL Preseason Poll
Re: PL Preseason Poll
Re: PL Preseason Poll
Here's a hot take. Perri is the second-best QB in the league, only behind Demorat. Perri was more efficient in PL games than Sluka and frankly is extremely similar to Sluka in every way (game manager, keeps mistakes down, etc.). What Sluka had that Perri hadn't was the best OL in the league and a legitimate deep threat.
Certainly Lehigh shouldn't be picked yet to win the league, but it sure feels like they are closer than people realize at making a move towards the championship. The defense is top notch. Critical will be getting the O line working better right from the start this time, and the development of different weapons at WR (and seeing continued development at RB). Last year at this time everything on offense was in doubt. Now, at least, there are some answers there. If they find all of the rest of those answers, they have a chance.

Re: PL Preseason Poll
Good to see someone talking about football ... boy, this board has gotten awfully quiet the past few years.
Re: PL Preseason Poll
Zcrimmage #1 should have some insights. Hope some of the guys get over to watch..
IIR 17 returning starters but more importantly an older and more experienced team As Joe and Tom have both noted last season we were a team of 18 or 19 yr old kids.. IIR Cross had 25 + covid seniors back last year..
LU does have depth of talent on D on every level.
O has a solid QB and question marks behind him. Excellent depth at RB and receaivers. OL has bodies for a change and experience. Any good ?
We have lots of P/Ks rostered.

Re: PL Preseason Poll
True on the Perri at QB. I love to see him throw on the run. Rolling the pocket and leveraging TE in crossing patterns would be a nice change of pace. We will need some of the Frosh Defense LBs and a couple inside DL to pan out for depth with transition of DL guys to OL. I hope our expectations aren't too high. Lehigh was the worst offensive team in the history of D1 college football after 6 games last year. There was alot more wrong than just the QB...I always like to see how the HC interacts with players during practice and games. I saw some improvement last year as seat got hot...player leadership is also important.
Re: PL Preseason Poll
Kinda agree opa. The major snags on O were IMO the OL and Perri's early issues with grasping the offense. The OL was a mess. Anytime your 2 deep is filled with WOs and underclassmen, you can expect problems.
The new reality with the transfer portal and no sit out year will be an ongoing issue. BC and UVA got to cherry pick our 2 best OL recruits.
Pearson had 14 or 15 OL on campus for the summer. Hopefully a significant bonus. For a change, expect the 2 deep to be mostly upperclassmen.
The most serious issue is the lack of depth on the interior DL. We have more bodies foe a change. that a few stand out.

Re: PL Preseason Poll
This just an awful “hot take”. Perri did nothing vs a good defense last year to even put him in a similar category with Sluka. Sluka is 5x the run threat that Perri is. Play well against a good defense, then I can consider him with the other quality QBs. Sluka won a playoff game. Perri’s resume’ has nothing close to that. This is “homer take” and is filled with just pure hopes and dreams.lfnadmin wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 3:24 pm Here's a hot take. Perri is the second-best QB in the league, only behind Demorat. At best, Lehigh battles Lafayette for 4th place….ahead of the two doormats, Gtown and Bucky.
Re: PL Preseason Poll
How exactly were these OLman “cherry picked”? They were in the portal for months because they chose not to play for this staff. That’s a Lehigh problem, not a new reality of portal.RichH wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 10:27 am Kinda agree opa. The major snags on O were IMO the OL and Perri's early issues with grasping the offense. Why so negative LUFan? Are you an LUFan or an LUAntiFan.
Re: PL Preseason Poll
No FAN it is not just a Lehigh problem. And yes it is cherrypicking. Canelas unhappy to say the least but he came to camp at an immobile 340+ lbs. He wasn't going to see the field.LUFAN wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 11:06 amHow exactly were these OLman “cherry picked”? They were in the portal for months because they chose not to play for this staff. Some prospects will take an FCS offer.figuring on a good yr to enable a transfer up. Many I agree, are not happy where they are and want the change.
Transfer portal is now a marketplace for teams to replace others lost to transfer and/or fill gaps in the recruit roster. They pick and chose who they want. UVA picked Canelas and BC picked Curatolo.

Don't get too mad at LUFAN. He has become the resident curmudgeon.Like all of us he wants Lehigh to be better.
