Cornell
Re: Cornell
All you have to do is look at the performance of the New New York Giants, so far this year, to see what a difference a good coach can make.
Re: Cornell
No quotes from Gilmore in the game recap on the athletics website. Maybe Sterrett canned him before he got on the bus after that disgraceful offensive performance.
Re: Cornell
LU, Cornell, plus about 50 other colleges and 1000 HSs use the same British drinking song as an Alma mater. Big Red claim they created it. The Centennial song was of course written 1965. I forget the composer, but legendary 97 director Moose Elkus arranged it. There was an immediate attempt to have it LU Alma mater. But conservatives blindly love the past.Hawkineer wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 9:23 pmDoesn’t Cornell have the same music as Lehigh for their alma mater? So the approximately 97 may be playing both schools’ alma maters at halftime.Richb-3 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 12:18 pm The best thing that cold happen at Cornell.
The 97 attend the game. Play on the field at halftime. Announce they are about to play the Lehigh Alma Mater. Then Play the Centennial Song.\
Let Cornell and 50 other colleges and 1000 HS have their crappy bar song.
Our new pres clearly favors it. Forever the band has played it at games end. Now the team, cheerleaders and knowledgeable fans come to attention. Look at a program that has the words. Listen. ...."Lehigh hail".

Has anyone received a response from Sterrett yet? I sent two politely worded but direct emails and no response. Not even a canned acknowledgment.
Re: Cornell
Brisson the OC since 17. His record
17 35.84 ppg
18 15.64
19 15.73
21. 5.33 (Spring) 11.55
22 15.86
Coaches have told me he is a genius with Xs & Os,playbooks, schemes. In 17 his style worked. Why?
Mays,Casey,Brags,Brisker,Portorreal Nana,TP3 et al.
We have some solid to good O players but nowhere near that talent level. Over 4 years the level of talent has not risen appreciably nor has the O improved at all. Lots of reasons, many valid, but none justify 4 years of a less than mediocre offense. Every team we play dealt with many of the same issues over that time with better results.

Re: Cornell
Everything regresses to the mean eventually. Whatever the reason for success in 2017, it’s clearly an aberration.
If the strategy and schemes are so great but not producing then it’s likely an issue with the athletes; i.e. recruiting.
More likely, Brisson knows how to manage up but fails to execute.
We’ve seen enough. He doesn’t deserve another year at Lehigh.

I even went so far as to complain to my contact in the development office, since I’ve given a significant amount to the university over the years, and it didn’t make a difference. I just don’t get it. I wrote to him once before, years ago, and he responded right away. Maybe it’s time for him to retire?Mountain Hawk wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 9:38 am

He’s been conspicuously asleep behind the wheel the last few years and his non-responsiveness and inaction have been notable.
I’m sure he’s a good man and has been capable… but yeah, his time has come and gone.
Re: Cornell
Might as well discuss songs. Who on here thinks the key coaching staff should stay? (Maybe someone like the special teams coach is doing a decent job?)Mountain Hawk wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 9:38 am It’s good we’re debating the school songs.
