What's next ???

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

Your team goes 2-9 (the worst record almost any of us can remember) and loses to its archrival.

Is there any reason you wait until Monday to resign?

Do you resign?

More important question: How does Lehigh handle recruiting going forward if there are new coaches? Is this year a lost recruiting year if Gilmore & Co. are dismissed/resign?
Resign? You don't know this egomaniacal neanderthal. No chance.

1. Make an announcement one way or other...your recruit for this upcoming class are getting poached today! Portal will get very active starting today.
2. Get a special team coordinator (we lost 2 games because we didn't have one)
3. Get a kicking coach (snapper, holder and kicker matter)
4. Get a QB coach (can't be OC)

That was Dunlap's third year. He'd gone 1-8 (Lafayette win) and 0-9 the prior two years, according to Wikipedia.

Then he went 3-7, 4-5-1 and 4-6, before going 8-3 in 1971, which, to me, began the modern-day, winning LU football era.

That's back when some coaches were coaching multiple teams ...
Coach Leeman variously coached Golf, Tennis, and Freshman soccer

Also prior to coed they taught freshman Phys ed.

Typically, when an HC is terminated, there is usually a top assistant/coordinator who is designated "interim" Head Coach, along with some assistants to continue recruiting/contacts. There may well be some who fit that bill. From people (parents/family) I have spoken to DC Kurshurba is well liked by the players, as well as Line coach Fetterman. The secondary coach, Quintin, is also a Lehigh grad. So there should be some continuity regarding recruitment. Regardless, I would think, at the very least, the OC would be gone as well. I taped the game and watched (I know I'm a masochist) again Saturday night. Even the Lafayette announcers (particularly Joseph-former Lafayette RB, I believe in the early 80's ) couldn't believe the play calling. I heard Lehigh's color commentator, Yadush, was apoplectic as well.

Yep, Leckonby wanted to fire Dunlap after 1969, but President Lewis nixed the idea as he saw what Fred had to deal with in rebuilding and saw the progress. Indeed, in 1970, we knocked off one of the top teams in the country, Delaware, at Taylor in a stunning rout. That game really showed that Lehigh was 'back', and rest is history. If frosh were allowed to play in 1970, a few more games would likely have been won.

It's noon on Monday, why is Gilmore still listed as head coach?!?!

Just saw Rob Ambrose is out at Towson after going 76-76 over the course of his 13 year tenure leading the Tigers. Lehigh had the memorable win over his Towson team in the 2011 playoffs. Remember his entrance holding the belt? Towson then made the 2013 finals in large part to Terrence West's greatness.

Three big upsets for Dunlap:

1968 Lafayette was #1 ranked in the Lambert Cup. We Won 21-6 I think
1969 100th anniversary of College football. Rutgers intended to go 10-0. They had beaten Princeton we beat them in like the 8th game.
1970. Delaware's 5 horseman team/Fred just decided the hens would not throw a pass other than a screen, put 9 men up front. I think we won 36-13. But that year we had a bad game against the pards.

The real crisis loss for Fred was 1968 against Gettysburg when we had a 24-7 lead with 5 minutes left and lost, because we assumed the warriors had given up on the game.

I was told the HC has a 5 year deal and Lehigh won't want to pay for two HCs next year. Don't know if that's accurate

If Gilmore was given a 5 year contract that makes this hiring exponentially more puzzling.
How could a head coach, with his track record, have the bargaining power to land a 5 year contract in FCS football? Something doesn't seem right there.

We got lucky to beat Colgate and beat Georgetown by 1. The trends are there for it to get worse next year.

Bucknell just fired OC and WR coach. Guessing Ceech is safe this time.
Dunno TG''s contract term but but 5 yrs pretty standard.
Are we going to take the same route here as Buckies?
