A great number in the portal are senior with and additional year due to COVID, so exploring options to get a masters degree for free.

Concur. Would be more concerned if it were a large number of freshman and sophomores. One would expect that Juniors would stick around to graduate and then also use their 5th years someplace else.

Bigger issue is that Lehigh likely will have a smaller recruiting class. When HC is hired, will have to push applications through of those on his recruiting short-list and hopefully Admission will get some of them in. Year 1 will show that new coach could do more with same players than old coach. Then see what 2 full season of his own recruits brings.

Lehigh admission policy is the biggie. Get them to accept low end 1100 SAT of scholarship athletes. Have to expand the pool of potential recruits and then go out and find them in PA, OH, NJ, VA, MD, DC, NY.

Yep. Admissions has been a bugaboo for Lehigh coaches for years. I recall Lembo bitching about not being able to offer a kid from the Lehigh Valley due to admissions, yet, the kid went to Penn!

Admissions can be a problem at times but it is not that major an issue. Football is allotted slots each year for recruiting. That number is negotiated by coaches and Admissions. We do get low end SAT recruits thru Admissions. Slotted players go thru admissions process separately from the frosh class pool.
LU is limited by the PL AI banding to how many can be included in any class. One reason why we recruit "levelers",high GPA kids to balance the overall AI of the recruit group.
A pertinent fact here. The AI does not apply to most transfer prospects. A source we need to exploit. Transfer admission is exceedingly difficult at LU. for all students. I wonder if staff could save a few slots for transfers..

Coach Prime encouraged the entire 1-11 Colorado team to enter the transfer portal.

I think he can only bring in 25-30 frosh. So he needs 40 transfers to have a minimal team. Maybe he will bring the whole Jackson St team.

It will be interesting to see how many Jackson State players will be eligible based on their academic year for minimum credits and GPA to be admitted to University of Colorado/PAC10 rules and NCAA rules. Colorado likely to a hot spot for transfer portal 5th year players because if Coach Sanders selects you, your are in the 2 deep for each position.

Colorado only has 7 juniors on roster. They likely stay to graduate. Has 17 5th year/Seniors, so most of them will graduate or be in transfer portal. Freshmen football players, likely less than half ever return for 2nd year as most are walk-ons.

Colorado will likely be hot spot for juco transfers. Player quality will be upgraded, but organizational culture, system and team cohesion not likely to be there in Year 1. Then Coach Prime will get his first true recruiting class in 2024.

It will be interesting to see how he does at FBS level/Pac10.
