Nothing against the new coach, but Nate Milne was the better choice.

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

Milne
74 -17 record at Muhlenberg College as Offensive Coach/Head Football Coach.
Go to a game and see the size of his offensive line and how well they play. This coach demands excellence. The same thing that transformed Lafayette in one season under Troxell.

This Milne coach is the real deal. He can coach.

There was a guy at Wesley College that put football on the map named Mike Drass. A now defunct institution rolled up into Delaware State. He was guy who could coach and chose to stay at DIII Level. The guy got D1 transfers who were starters from places like U of Iowa and others who flunked out who wanted a 2nd chance. He got Air Force veterans off the local Dover Base team who stayed local on GI Bill. He recruited heavily across premier football regions of DC/MD, PA, NJ, VA head to head for talent. The guy had over 200 on roster at times.

There are just some coaches who just plain out coach and lead. Just like Generals. They prepare their men for the mission and expect excellence in executing an outcome of victory. Others are just technicians who cannot lead.

So we have 3 very good local coaches at Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, Muhlenberg and Cahill will get his 5 year chance to either learn to Lead or just be another Technician with technical knowledge of football, but no ability to translate it into VICTORY.

How is that different than Lehigh? That pretty much describes our basketball and wrestling coaches. Football expectations are not very lofty.
Unless your name in Ben Schwarzwalder. Muhlenberg's competitor school Presidents ganged up on then Muhlenberg President after 1949 season saying they would remove Muhlenberg from the league and not play them anymore because Muhlenberg football was not only just good, but reached NCAA Rankings Top 25 multiple times in an era of single division football. Then Schwarzwalder went to Syracuse and turned that moribund program into National Champions within 9 years.

Muhlenberg College is an interesting institution. Oldest Lutheran college in United States. Has always recruited Allentown and greater Lehigh Valley well for past 100 years. Since 1950s, extended their reach to Philadelphia suburbs and NJ for preponderance of their students. Feeder liberal arts school for medical schools, dental schools law schools. Nationwide it gets Lutheran students as one of the premier institutions.

I have met 100s if not a 1000 Muhlenberg grads in my lifetime and it is a surprisingly great experience in what was once the premier area in the West End of Allentown. They have a pretty darn good history in football and basketball. Even wrestling there is getting much better for first time since Schleicher retired.
