Lehigh. #7
Re: Lehigh. #7
Kudos to Men's Lacrosse!! Can't take the foot off the gas yet though.
The media doesn't seem to put all that much thought into the polls at this stage. Lehigh beats Army, they switch places including the tie with Georgetown. Notre Dame crushes Syracuse and they switch places.
Navy's loss to Loyola drops them to #19 and it doesn't get easier for them

Re: Lehigh. #7
Mike Sisselberger leads the nation in both FO % and ground balls/game.
I'll assume that All-American Gaffney is OK to go but perhaps cannot secure his spot. Just speculation though. There is no reason why Sisselberger is not an All-American this year.

Re: Lehigh. #7
So... Sisselberger is #7 on the Tewaaraton watch list at the midway point with this writeup
7. Michael Sisselberger, FO, Jr., Lehigh (3G, 77%, 61 GBs in 5 games)
Clearly the most dominant face-off specialist in the country, leading the nation in win percentage and groundballs per game. He’s been a weapon in Lehigh’s most important wins over Loyola and Army, and coach Kevin Cassese’s team currently sits in pole position in the Patriot League. After redshirting in 2019 and splitting time with All-American Conor Gaffney in 2020, “Missleberger” has come into his own this season.
Has Lehigh ever had a 1st Team All-American in modern times?
Re: Lehigh. #7
Answering my own question, our last 1st Team All-American was Art Gruhn in 1925 playing a position called Cover Point.

Re: Lehigh. #7
Well the lacrosse team provided some much needed salve on the wound inflicted by the Leotards earlier in the day. Very solid game. We clearly had a superior team as Navy seemed to rely on just one or two guys. Plus, Sisselberger and Spence are dominant. I hope the team does not get complacent this coming weekend with home and home games with the Leotards. Cannot afford to stub a toe on those bastards. Winning 80% of faceoffs is such a key part of the team's success. Controlling possession is such a huge component of lax.
I know it's early, but seems to me that the lacrosse team has probably the best chance of Lehigh ever winning a D-I NCAA championship, in any sport. Consistently a top 20 team, and now, will this incursion into the top 10 be a limited occurrence, or start a tradition? I nice thing to mull after the debacle in Easton.
