Young team returns in 2018-2019 with tons of promise. Can they get back to the NCAA Tournament?

NJIT....game#2

Post by jimk72 » Sat Nov 13, 2021 7:38 am

We open the home season tonight at -7.5 point at WindCreek Casino sports book, just 5 blocks off campus. Quite a changed environment in that regard. NJIT lost 61-54 on Thursday to Merrimack, our opponent next Friday.

Hope to see lots of friendly masks tonight at Stabler!

ps: Was at the women's game last night. Masks are not required for eating or booing bad calls....

It sure was. I really liked their defensive energy for most of the game. NJIT couldn't miss near the end of the game.

Offensively, however, they looked very undisciplined and really lacks shooters.

But this is one game. Let's see where they go from here.

A real stinker. If it looked bad on ESPN+, it was even worse in person. Appeared that Brett was trying out everybody to get a feel for what he has. 10 guys got significant minutes. And nobody really played well. 5-24 from three point line. 18-54 overall with 19 turnovers. Yuck.....

I was in Philadelphia yesterday attending three college basketball games (Mount St. Mary's/St. Joseph's, Albany/La Salle, Southern California/Temple) but checked the score various times throughout the Temple game. What the hell happened? It looked like the Mountain Hawks were largely out of it from the get-go.

They has a 6 point lead early, but once NJIT got the lead it never relinquished it. The closest Lehigh got in the second half was 6.
Lehigh was terrible from three and not much better from inside. They had a lot of turnovers and were also in foul trouble throughout.
All in all you were better off in Philadelphia

17-point loss to NJIT?

Wow.

NJIT finished 8 of 10 teams in last year's America East conference won by UMBC.

Good news is it's preseason, sort of.
