In her latest action, Ella Stemmer was stellar once again for the Hornets as she finished with 28 points, nine rebounds, five steals and three assists. Like many games, she scored ouble digit points (15) in the 1st Quarter, then spends much of the game facilitating everyone else. I'm thinking she could score 40 ppg if she wanted to.

Instead, according to her coach, she is averaging 25 ppg on only 14 shots/g. She is shooting 58% from the 2, 47% from the 3 and 92% from the FT. In addition she is avg about 8 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 to 3 assists/game.

Ella Stemmer- 16 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, 5 assists against Ypsilanti

Watched the video with a healthy amount of fast forwarding but I believe I only saw 2 missed shots.

Here is something you don't see often from top teams.

Saline was ranked #3 in the state of Michigan before losing on Saturday to a team they had beaten handily earlier in the season. Tonight was a must win game.

They won 44-40. Ella Stemmer had 38 points including 25 in a row. Apparently her assists #s were down though since the rest of the team only scored 6 points.

Some trivia: over the last 5 seasons, Lehigh has had to girls who each scored 50 points in a game in HS. One is still playing for Lehigh. Any guesses?

Answer to the trivia question: Taylor Campbell and Frannie Hottinger

Saline won yesterday to put them in the District finals. The Lehigh commit and senior guard nearly recorded a triple-double with 19 points, 15 rebounds, 4 steals and eight assists, which tied her own school record despite limited minutes.

Interesting game. Ella scored 24 of their first 40 points by the end of the 3rd qtr. Then they double teamed her whenever she touched the ball. She then became a decoy to open up the rest of the floor.

The regional finals are tomorrow night.

I'm now waiting for some HS spring sports to start up.
