Possible Starting Lineup

Now only 25 days to a possible Lehigh sporting event.

Four years ago, Sue had a decision to make. She graduated 3 starters who were really productive in Kinek, Sharlow and Affini. Then mega-star Martins graduates early and McCloskey tears her ACL. At the same time she brings in perhaps her most decorated recruiting class yet.

Seeing no clear path to a PL Championship, she decided to build for the future and started 3 freshmen with a 4th getting a lot of minutes. The result was pretty much as anticipated.

Now those 4 recruits have all graduated and Sue brings in a class that on paper may be just as heralded as the one that just left. She has a finalist for Miss Minnesota Basketball and another finalist for Miss Tennessee Basketball. Add on a 2X PA 1st Team 6A All-State and a big contributor for one of the top HS basketball teams in the country.

This time may be different though. I can see a scenario where none of these freshman start, at least early in the season but all should get substantial minutes. I can see Steele starting at PG, Walker and Clougherty at the wings and Grothaus and Sexe at FW.

This year Sue has some real flexibility for situational substitutions. There are at least 4 girls that have the potential to light it up from outside in Kramer, Behar, Walker and Clougherty. She also has some outstanding defensive players, most notably Vargas, who had 379 blocks in HS and altered a whole lot more shots. Rice and Eggenschwiler both played at Red Bank HS whose success is predicated on defense.

There has been very good photo and video coverage of MBB but not much foe WBB until the last few days. Video today was short but welcome. It looked like a. 4 on 4 scrimmage. Kinda wonder where the rest of the squad is??
