Clarion Open
Re: Clarion Open
Caden Rogers at 197
Re: Clarion Open
I saw the name, checked our roster, saw Caden Wright, and thought "nope, he's not ours". Next year's group.

Rogers is going to be busy; he's also entered in the ESU Open the same day.

Re: Clarion Open
As did about 25 from F&M and a couple others.
I'm not positive but I have some admin over ESU (I'm not running it for the first time in 40 some years) and I think they all signed up at ESU first and then switched over. Not sure if they are playing out their options or just decided that it seemed like nobody signed up for so long so they switched.
I mentioned this on the broadcast last night but so far, I'm aware of Wilkes and ESU only allowing wrestlers coming as part of a team as part of NCAA required knowledge of general vaccination/testing with arriving teams (not name by name/HIPAA). In the case of Wilkes they are just going to run a few duals. We aren't positive exactly how ESU will handle this. I would imagine Caden won't enter since not in college so can't really do the proper attestation (maybe could but don't think they're allowing it). Think the pure unattacheds can't. Not sure if the school is also bringing attacheds if they can include them in the info. We just heard this from ESU a couple days ago so still figuring everything out.
I help run Lehigh's Paul Short Run and at least during the college races we had to do the same thing. All the college teams had to give us the information and no pure open runners were allowed.
Re: Clarion Open
Quick question.
Prior to COVID, a lot of schools including Lehigh to a degree were using open tournaments as a wrestle off because of the familiarity JDA referred to on another thread. Is Lehigh planning to utilize them this year at all?
It would be interesting to see how Seymour/Lane or Bryant/Hoffman, Logan/Herceg or McGonagle/Moran would shake out against unfamiliar wrestlers. Could it provide more clarity at 184/197. Just a thought.

Re: Clarion Open
Clarion is of course the day after the first duals. Spooky-Nook might be a good place to settle some doubt, assuming it is still the same format as what we have wrestled at Troy.
In Retrospect, the highest profile such strategy (and it isn't quite what you were asking about) Minotti-Walter did not work out well, Because we likely would have fared better for the whole year, certainly the post-season would have been Minotti 157-- Kutler 165.

Re: Clarion Open
F&M will be at Clarion not ESU. That should include Caden.
Re: Clarion Open
Interesting. essentially they must be accepting him under the auspices of his dads team.
So how does this effect Edmund Ruth?

Re: Clarion Open
I don't know if Clarion is doing the same protocol. I'm expecting they might. Also, just hearing from ESU that they might be able to expand to non-college teams if they can do the same info processing.
