Griffin is very impressive on top. If he continues to improve in neutral, he is going to be very tough IMO.

He beats Seefeldt or at least loses a close match he’s your 149…..i doubt the Lehigh guys wrestle each other at this but who knows…..

Griffin beats Seefeldt 12-0…..I think we have our 149

Griffin 3-0 on day

Seefeldt 5-0 over Reinsel

Repos 9-8 over Seefeldt

Griffin has not wrestled Swisher who Repos lost to 12-1, at this point why would he risk injury but we’ll see….

So on day:

Griffin 3-0
Reinsel 1-1
Repos 2-1

What's Swisher doing wrestling? He should be playing basketball.

I have to ask….

Why would Peyton Fenton a Ohio State backup 125…… who is 9-5 on the year at open tourneys and is from Ohio….. Travel to F&M to wrestle one match against the number one 133 lber in the country to wrestle less than one period and lose by tech fall?

Some strange coaching voodoo going on there……

I've been out of town and the IP address for my hotel's wifi was blocked from posting here. Weird. Just got back a little while ago.

Griffin has one odd statistic -- including wrestle-offs and bouts against teammates, he's lost eight times this year when he's received the riding time point. On one occasion he had more than three minutes time advantage. So he's great on top; actually isn't bad on his feet, but probably needs a more reliable takedown move (who doesn't?), and maybe needs to give up on rides a little earlier, esp. against elite opponents. But riding relentlessly isn't going to work unless he gets better at scoring points on tilts.

Crookham had to wrestle somewhere this weekend. He doesn't have enough bouts for an RPI even after today, and it's more than 30 days since his last outing which means he wouldn't be counted in the next CP ranking -- so he wouldn't earn a pre-allocated spot for the EIWA. Now that spot is locked up.

Griffin probably locked in a pre-allocated spot today too; his winning percentage should now be well into the .700s. He didn't wrestle three stiffs, either.

All that makes sense and clarifies things a bit but what was in it for Peyton Fenton?

>>>>>>With the three wins today, I have Griffen at 21-8, so he’s above the 70% win criteria and has a strong RPI ——- which I believe will earn a qualifier spot for the conf.

Munch gets a warm weather trip to ASU to face a highly ranked opponent while the other 149s sort things out in Lancaster and probably confirm that Griffen gets the EIWA nod.

Plus Crookham gets a low key, stay healthy, win to keep him in the Coaches poll.

Intelligent coaching, in my book, and sets the team up to maximize NCAA bids at the EIWAs.

The cherry on top for the weekend will hopefully be a win at ASU.
