Re: Binghamton Dual
I feel sorry for whichever 184 lber we are going to throw out there against Lou Deprez....Preisch handled him a few times (most notably to finally AA) but matches were always a battle.....and from what I've seen Lou looks even better now......

Re: Binghamton Dual
Lehigh's match notes will probably be out later today; will be for two opponents.
Binghamton is 3-0, beating Rider, LIU, and Army.
Possible matchups --
125: Lane - Micah Roes, fr, 3-0 -- good EIWA ranking bout but I like Lane
133: Hines - Anthony Sobotker, jr, 3-0 -- transfer from Nassau CC, 61-9 record
141: McGonagle - Zack Trampe, jr, 3-0, EIWA 3rd and 4th at 133, hasn't looked as good at 141
149: Hoffman - Michael Zarif, jr, 2-1
157: Burkhart - Chris Barker, jr, 0-1 or Alex Strashinsky, fr, 0-2
165: Meyer or Lawrence - Brevin Cassella, fr, 3-0
174: Logan - Jacob Nolan, so, 3-0
184: Davis - Lou DePrez, jr, 3-0, EIWA 1st, 3rd; NCAA R12, 2x qualifier
197: Jakobsen - Sam DePrez, so, 1-2
285: Wood - Corey Day, so, backup 184-pounder who beat Ben Sullivan with two 4-NFs. Joe Doyle should be their best 285 but he hasn't wrestled yet.
125, 133, 141 are anyone's guess. I think we're favored at 149, 157, 165, 174. 184 to Binghamton. We're favored at 197, 285 (maybe even if Wood doesn't wrestle).
Long Island U wrestled round robins at Bucknell (with VMI) and Army; lost duals to Binghamton and Hofstra; beat Sacred Heart.
LIU's best guys are probably --
125: Bryce Cockrell, fr, 2-3, beat Faraon of Sacred Heart.
133: Devin Matthews, fr, 3-3, held Binghamton's Sobotker to a 6-4 loss.
141: Drew Witham, fr, 4-3, beat Bucknell's frosh Kurt Phipps, lost 5-4 to Trampe.
174: James Langan, jr, 3-4, beat Bucknell's Guida 5-3, lost to Bucknell's Andreano 3-2.
285: Tim Nagosky, jr, 3-4 -- here's where this weight class gets weird: he beat Cory Day 3-2 but was pinned by Ben Sullivan in 0:21. Day majored Sullivan in their dual.

Re: Binghamton Dual
If who I hope starts/wrestles then 6-4 Lehigh.....If a lot of the "backups" get the nod then 4-6 or 3-7 Binghamton..........only real bonus point match I see if our "starters" go (or my mental version from match notes) is Lou Deprez match....going to be tough to keep him below 3 points....
Guessing McGonagle in covid protocol or injured? Trampe will be a very dificult match for Polito or Munch, seems like Polito would be an undersized 141 and Munch probably a bit raw for the "seasoned" Trampe.....
Are they doing "extra" matches against both LIE and Bing?

Sighhh .... guess all you'd like (and you just did) ... but for years there have been 6-8 different reasons why guys sit out a dual. This year that's increased by one. Since Pat (and PSU and most schools) have made it clear they don't want the lineup MIA reasons shared (backed by HIPAA policies) I no longer ask him.
BTW, if a starter went into protocol that would have far greater implications than just sitting 1 guy out for 1 dual, no?.

Re: Binghamton Dual
actually I would put the number closer to a million reasons, just guessing the likely ones.....and in answer to your question .... Not necessarily by any means.....who Knows maybe his girlfreind was exposed to it and he was exposed to her so they are holding just him out for safety reasons.......
No one is asking what his exact injury is or if he has covid, just asking if that is the reason he is not wrestling......it does not break HIPAA rules to say Connor McGonagle will be out due to injury (whether it be sickness or physical injury).....you aren't giving away anything to his opposition ......very simple actually but ovbviously hard to comprehend for some.....
And is speculation on message boards now a crime in this ridiculous PC world or is it just you?

Re: Binghamton Dual
I'm intrigued a bit by the Match Notes showing Luca Frinzi at 157. If I may speculate a little (and augment that with some information), Frinzi was a good recruit last year, 103-38 HS record, 7th and 4th at PA states. He wrestled at 165 and finished 7-8, all against Div I competition. Let's see how he does at 157.
He was 38-10 and 4th at states in his senior year at Becahi, wrestling 160; he beat Thayne Lawrence and lost twice to Connor Herceg (something's wrong there .... ). At states he won two (beat Jack Blumer in the 2nd round), lost to champ Trey Kibe, beat 5th placer Jake Richardson, then lost to Blumer in the consi finals. Kibe is Intermat's #33 recruit this year, headed to Virginia Tech; Blumer's at West Virginia.
