This entire thread has gotten out of hand (or maybe it started there). Listen, I don't deny anyone their religious beliefs. That is a personal matter. However, I can say with some certainty that wrestling outcomes are in no way connected to those beliefs. If so, based on the World Championships, freestyle is not under His control based on the # of Iranians and Russians I see there.HFO wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 3:16 pm Apparently GOD watches ESPN on Saturday nights of NCAA Final.
The 4 Penn State and David Carr (Carr Family of Erie, PA) are all from quite religious families. I also believe Gable Dan Stevenson gave a GOD shoutout. So 6 out of 10 not bad. Possibly another one in there also. Surely GOD had something to say about STANFORD dropping wrestling too.
Anyway, in my era, LEHIGH still had mandatory CHAPEL every morning and we were all sleepy young men of less than 300 in our class, possibly 1200 in entire university then. We also had supervised dorms and mandatory lights out also. The professor liked to flunk at least 10% of the freshman class out to keep Lehigh competitive with MIT and Carnegie Tech in that era.
My advice. Don't make humor of God. We all can die at any time and place of calling in our lifetime. From child to old and infirm. It would be nice to find that existence had a purpose and that there ultimately is a better destination. The unexplained, especially if you are well versed in high level physics, can be quite empty and terrifying if you think too hard about it.
I tip my hat off to the young believers who got their message out on NCAA. I lean that GOD does exist after decades of being an agnostic.
BTW, Pat Santoro is deeply religious.
