I assume the 80% refers to the three undergrad colleges related to the state, Ag, Human Ecology, Industrial Labor relations.

If that 80% is correct for all 3, and the SATs listed are correct for all 3. then if average SAT for the other 20% is 1500, then the Average Cornell Wrestler SAT is 3 points higher than Lehigh. If 1470, 3 points lower. In other words there is no Statistical dif in LU and CU SAT scores among wrestlers.

Financial aid: I suspect if you have a Pennsylvania Kid, Planning on Studying Engineering, two time Pa 5th (probably not getting part of the 9.9 at Lehigh) dad an Engineer making $110,000 a a year, Mom Teacher $60K-- He will be offered $XX aid his first year at Lehigh, $xx + (5-10) at Bucknell, $XX+(10-15) at Cornell, or any Ivy.

That's with an apples-to-apples courseload comparison. The fact that there aren't available athletic scholarships should tell you something about why these guys chose Cornell (or Princeton) over Lehigh.
Agree with the "stop the SUNY bullshit" comment. And I am also sick of the Cornell bashing that takes place.

However, as to the value of a degree:

Lehigh ahead both at early career and at mid-career.
If we just look at Engineering (rather than including all those useless fine arts and French literature degrees that Cornell likely has more of than does Lehigh):

Here's Lehigh (open the tab for Rossin): https://www1.lehigh.edu/admissions/job- ... -education

Here's Cornell: https://www.engineering.cornell.edu/sit ... ary-VD.pdf

Just pick various fields and check it out. I'm biased towards the results of the CS data, since I (Cornell '80) and my daughter (Lehigh '20) are both in that field (or were, as I just retired).
Congrats on your recent retirement!
I retired March 2020, right into pandemic. But sure beats working.

NothingMeaningful wrote: Sun Mar 28, 2021 12:06 pm Just for shits and giggles, I just looked at the current Cornell roster: of the 23 listed, 10 are not in the Ag school. So, about 60% of the current roster. I can't speak to the "regulars," though you may be more correct.

(and a significant number of those ten are in the Engineering school and one in Architorture).
But the 2020-21 roster doesn't include many who are sitting out because of the Ivy winter sports shutdown or taking Olympic redshirt years. I count 38 names on last year's roster, 24 of whom are in the contract schools and three who have no school listed. That doesn't count the three Olympic redshirts, two of whom are in contract schools and one who has no school listed. So of the 36 wrestlers with schools listed 26 are in the contract schools. That's a more normal season, not a year where so many of the wrestlers aren't on the roster.

I was retired (read "surplused") last summer, and after running the numbers I convinced She Who Must Be Obeyed that I could stop after 40 years. She, however, must continue working...

That happened to me, more years ago than I care to admit; more than once. It's the reason I gave up looking and drew SS at 62. The New World Economy, and all that ....

Word of advice... enjoy fully the next few years while she is still working. There is a bit of a culture shock when couples who both work suddenly spend 24/7/365 together. Covid has taught many that lesson already :-)

She's a teacher, who was working mostly remote in the fall, so we have done that (plus the two daughters who were working/school remote). Plus, her interest in wrestling is pretty much non-existent.

The Ivies don’t use 9.9 because they do not award athletic scholarships. NCAA 9.9 restriction applies to athletic grants.
The difficulty with the Ivies is getting in. The famous "admit lists", which are not limited to Ivy League schools, allow coaches the ability to get their recruits around the sieve that all other students need to go through. Add that to the liberal aid policies that the Ivies can afford, and the Ancient Eight can be competitive in any sport they choose. You don't think Harvard could field a Top Five wrestling program, every year, if it wanted to? Cornell wants to.
I will add that Cornell (and any other Ivy) will not admit any student, no matter how accomplished, if they feel that said student cannot succeed academically at Cornell.
LOL!!! Good one!
