Friedman Center is state of the art not unlike Spooky Nook. I believe capacity is 250 and assuming the bleachers are extended can hold another 50 on top of that so send your ticket requests in now.

I think Bartels Hall will be the site. Unless they opt for outdoors and go with Schoellkopf Field.

Yes, Newman Arena inside Bartels Hall. Newman Arena supposedly holds over 4,000 (for a single basketball court?).

Agreed JAD!!!

You can always check out the Statler Hotel on campus, which is where a lot of students work. Looked beautiful but was even more pricey. Limited options in downtown Ithaca

The original 2021 plan was to use five mats on the first day. That was a response to the interminable first day at Stabler the year before. I'm not familiar with the arena so I don't know how that will impact seating. I've heard that tournaments held at Cornell never draw well, so maybe that won't be a problem.

?
When set for dual meets, the retractable bleachers of Niemand Arena are pulled down to the competition mat, creating intimate and intense seating for up to 900 wrestling fans.

**** JDA said: "It snows in June in Ithaca." Not technically true but it can snow in May occasionally. When I lived in Endicott (45 minutes east/southeast of Ithaca) and worked in Montrose, PA (about 35 miles south of Binghampton), We did have snow 2X in June but Montrose sits right on top of a mountain, which intensifies the potential for extreme weather.

Like others have said, Ithaca is a nice town right on Cayuga Lake, which is a 26 mile long lake in the Finger Lakes. Ithaca Commons (downtown Ithaca) is very nice with stores and restaurants. I have stayed at The Statler many times while recruiting at Cornell. It is a partner of the Cornell Hotel Training School. The food is very good there.

Regardless, if you have never gone to the EIWA at Cornell, be prepared for cold weather and potential snow. To get there you will be travelling on winding country roads once you head north from Elmira, travel can get dicey, but NY has BIG Snow moving equipment, so the roads should be open, but still use caution.

I don't know if it fell in Ithaca specifically, but last May upstate New York had a foot of snow in places.

If Cornell had been found when the other Ivies were, they would have had snow in June, 1816

When will Cornell make the decision as to which two days, as that will obviously influence travel plans and hotel reservations.
