Cadet & Junior Pan-Ams
Cadet & Junior Pan-Ams
A couple of our guys (one current student athlete, one committed) are representing the U.S., according to Flo. Both did well at nationals to make the U.S Pan-Am team. Wrestling started today; I haven’t seen any results yet. And per TMH’s comments in the “Recruits” thread, it will be interesting to see where PJ goes with his weight in the future.
Cadet Men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman
92 kg: Peter Casale
Junior Men’s freestyle
79 kg: Jacob Logan
Junior Greco-Roman
97 kg: Peter Casale

Re: Cadet & Junior Pan-Ams
Appears Casale won his one bout to take gold in Cadet freestyle at 92. Listed to wrestle at 92 in greco in a field of three. Lost his first bout in Junior greco at 97 to a Cuban.
Re: Cadet & Junior Pan-Ams
Is this lack of participation normal or still COVID related? I makes me wonder why the competition even exists at least for wrestling.
Re: Cadet & Junior Pan-Ams
I think there's been better participation in the lower weights. My guess would be that, in general, they don't grow 'em big in the latin countries.
Edit: I was right. Latin Americans among the shortest in the world. Dutch are tallest. Must be the herring. https://newseu.cgtn.com/news/2020-11-07 ... index.html.

Jacob Henry Logan is 2-0 so far at Pan Am games winning two matches by a combined 17-0.
Re: Cadet & Junior Pan-Ams
Logan just pinned the wrestling version of Manute Bol in about 15 seconds.
Re: Cadet & Junior Pan-Ams
We ought to make sure that all US wrestlers who go by their initials wrestle in this event. We'll get to see what the initials stand for.

Re: Cadet & Junior Pan-Ams
Congratulations to both Jake and PJ on fine performances in the Pan Am Games.
I'm not sure what it means or how it compares to other competitions in the US. Is wrestling even a "thing" in the Western Hemisphere outside of the US?
With all that being said, I really like watching the evolution of Jake Logan. One of his claims to fame coming out of High School if my memory is correct is that he hadn't given up a point on his feet during his final two years of HS. That alone should bode well for freestyle. So it was kinda disheartening watching him struggle a bit protecting his legs early this season including I believe 2 takedowns in the closing seconds to lose bouts. He appears to have found his mojo again and has the possibility to really surprise people this coming season.
As always, just my opinion.
