Lehigh wrestling would never use Stabler for the Pitt match on 11/20. I don't understand all the logistics but every single entity on campus is treated as a "profit center". In order to schedule a match at Stabler, the wrestling budget would need to pay the Stabler budget, which isn't cheap. I have no idea how basketball handles the situation.

>>>>>> Basketball doesn't handle it. LU knows wrestling has the money. It's a BS concept. If it was really a 'profit center' then it would be run by business people, not administrators.

Perhaps I should have worded it differently. I put the words "profit center" in quotations for a reason. Virtually nothing, including wrestling actually generates a profit although Greg' Strobel's goal was to break even. It is an accounting/budgetary tool, I believe. Again, I don't know the logistics.

I am involved in running a few events on campus every year (except last year). The office I go through is given a budget. The chosen site has a charge that needs to fit into our budget. Funds are transferred, perhaps on paper, from our account to theirs.

Basketball has different revenue streams than wrestling. When we play at the large venues eg Syracuse this year, the payoff is quite substantial. The Patriot League (all members) get a nice payout from our participation in the NCAA tournament. The cost of Stabler is likely built into their budget. But then again, what do I know? :-)

Pitt at Grace the week before likely 13-1500 fans. At least 1000 of them will be at the football game, but another 10,000 LU fans will be at the game. If the timing is right, Say exactly 60 minutes after the games final whistle, there will likely be 10-25% who show at the meet in Stabler.

Heck, there will be still packed roads trying to leave the Goodman campus when the dual would start.

I suspect we could eve get 3-500 students there. They leave the game, drink a couple of beers, and come to the the meet.

>>>Frankly will never understand this thinking. Most injuries happen in practice so limit practice time if you're so concerned. I'd like to see more duals not less.

.... Can't recall seeing you in South Beach but the # of injuries there have been as ugly as the Scuffle (and often Midlands). You start by being less than 100% in shape thx to the holidays, then pack in extra bouts, often vs. guys who don't care if they injure you. Whether that's true or not, as a fan/writer I've flown home from all too many holiday events minus some of our favorite wrestlers. Amazingly, Jack Foley got most back by the post-season.

Correct that LU Hoops doesn't pay to use Stabler - because it is the only facility all year that they can use. Wrestling pays a few for Stabler as the rarely used facility (when they rarely project 4k att or more).

As I've alerted Athletics about the conflict Nov 20, expect to see a new time for wrestling. I hope the change won't cost us the Pitt match-up, since I have no idea where else they might be wrestling that day or weekend.

Maybe they could hold the meet when the Pard band and dance team is on the field.

That feels like two hours, of dental work.

... Ackk, let's not mention dental work; I've had a 2-hr sitting recently among a half dozen trips with one bridge falling out and one new post/& crown continually popping out. For those old farts dealing with bad luck like this, might want to avoid: tootsie roll pops, small chicken wings (the big soft fat ones are ok), licorice (for God's sake, don't refrigerate it); Chinese egg rolls (tougher than owl shit, the rest of your ordere is fine); any tough hoagie rolls (open wide at your risk); and, believe it or not, some potato chips (New England chips have especially hard baked joints)

Better stick to yogurt (not cherry, fear the pits), pudding, and applesauce in the future.

Even better, set up an elevated mat on the 50 after the game. ... (imagine an indoor stadium ... lol)
