EIWA Recruiting

Post by Oracle » Sat Jul 17, 2021 11:15 am

Don't look now, but UPenn is recruiting up a storm with NJ and PA wrestlers. Some are well-credentialed and some are moderately-credentialed, but all are ranked in their weight class. It bodes well when you fill your room with NJ and PA talent.

Army has recruited well over the past few years and is again, but it is NAVY, under Cory Kolat's leadership that is mining the gold from PA (and NJ) once again. Navy can admit all the far and wide wrestlers they want, but without a fair share from PA, NJ, Ohio they will struggle to keep up. Looks to me like they are trending.

Princeton, Cornell and Lehigh are doing well, as usual.

With the ACC getting stronger and stronger, the EIWA needs to recruit well to stay competitive in terms of NCAA slots.

Flo 2022 Big Board:

Penn: #21 NJ, #38 PA, #57 NJ, #83 NJ
Lehigh: #3 PA (Crookham still a thing?), #34 NJ
Cornell: #28 CO, #30 PA, #76 MO
Navy: #40 NJ, #67 VA, #80 OH
Harvard: #50 NJ
Army: #71 WA, #97 TN
Princeton: #88 NJ

Flo 2021 Big Board:

Princeton: #17 NJ
Cornell: #21 PA, #28 CO, #33 NJ, #40 MN, #57 CT
Navy: #49 IL, #65 NJ
Army: #58 NJ, #63 PA
Columbia: #66 NJ
Harvard: #75 TN, #85 IL
Lehigh: #76 CA
Penn: #78 PA, #82 NJ

As far as top talent is concerned, Columbia (1) and Princeton (2) are not doing so great compared to Penn (6), Cornell (8), Navy (5), and Army (4). Lehigh with only three. Nine EIWA schools with nobody in the top 100 the next two years (so far).

Should you be including Garcia (around #20) in the 2021 Class for Lehigh and Rogers #28 in the 2022 Class?

Flo big board has crashed in terms of respect it gets in ranking high school kids….. All the “wrestling” minds have mostly left Flo, it is trying to be more a general media mogul now…..If you follow results versus rankings Rofkin is more accurate, way more accurate….. Willie may be a twit but he’s very good at ranking high schoolers and their potential….
