Jordan Wood

After looking at the IM 285 pre-season rankings, I'll predict Jordan Wood places top 5 -- barring injury.

Also noticed how IM adjusted for the 'free year' in class of each wrestler.

Kind of a make or break year in my opinion. Lots of 2nd and 3rd year guys that need to up their games. Lehigh could be very good if they do and very average if they don't.

So who are we talking specifically Mookie? McGonagle, Ryan, Lawrence?......Maybe Bryant IV? I'm hoping Hines takes another jump up into All American territory, will be interesting what weight he will be trying to do that at.....Going to definitely need to see a couple guys up their level at 184 & 197.......

As for Wood, I don't see top 5 but I do see a solid run at 6-8 position on the podium, assuming all heavyweights do come back and wrestle I think top 5 may be out of reach, hope I'm wrong though.......

>>>>>>> IMO a bigger Jordan Wood takes Hillger. Also think he matches up well with Mason Parris and Schultz, who lacks quickness. All he would have to do is beat one of those 2 --- doable IMO given his level of experience and heart.

Hines will not see 133 again. Would not surprise me to see him at 149 this year or next. Paetzell favorite/incumbent at 133 with McGonagle and Hines battling for 141. Hoffman incumbent at 149 with Bryant looking to further his learning curve at the D1 level.

A lot depends on what was planned over the off-season by thew wrestlers and the staff. Fans typically aren't privy to those discussions.

McGonagle feels like the odd man out at 133/141. Doubt he can beat Paetzell or Hines. If Hines wrestles 149 then Lehigh has issues - he'll get manhandled up two weights. Hoffman's body of work suggests he's a mid tier EIWA guy so hoping Bryant #4 pans out.

Same deal at 165 - Meyer's game is limited so hoping blue chip Lawrence shows up.

JT Davis at 184 is a huge question mark. Weak as a kitten last year so if he isn't benching 300 then he'll be lucky to break .500.

197 - who knows? Garcia would be nice but right now he's a longshot to even suit up. No visible help beyond him.

285 - they need a separate wing to house them all. Almost a ton of beef on the current roster.

AA potential at 125, 133, 141, 157, 174 & 285.

mookie: WOW! Very succinct. Agree on Hines....maybe 149 before he leaves. McGonagle is developing. He and Hines, I'm told, are close in the room. Agree on Hoffman, but not sure how much of his 20-21 performance was due to the abbreviated practice season and recovering from injury. He may surprise. Agree on Lawrence....Meyer has done everything he's ever been asked to do. Bravo Zulu. Agree 184 and 197 are question marks, but what team (outside of maybe 4-5 rosters) don't have a couple of problematic weights? No reason to think Garcia won't suit up unless you know something. Getting into 'wrestling shape' is another thing. I would say, realistically, he wouldn't really be ready until early to mid-January. That's considering the model followed when Jon Rushatz was the last one to successfully compete.

Nice analysis mookie.

Garcia may not be ready until EIWAs, if the football team get to the FCS championship game. :)
