Says he's going 133 lbs., hope he's hit the weights. If not Paetzell would be a better choice.

So the reason is he might have to wrestle a 2x2nd NCAA who is now in the World finals having outscored his 4 opponents 41-0?

This is one of our rising stars. Sorry he doesn't measure up to a guy who is in the World finals but he's adding strength as he matures.

That wasn't the point and you know it.

Hines lost to the 1 seed and the 9 seed at NCAA's, was winning in the third period then got taken down to his back and majored in wrestlebacks.....I would agree from what I saw last year strength was his major issue, not sure with his build how much "bulk" he can add and still stay a 133 lber, didn't look like he had the extra weight to convert to muscle......just needs to learn to wrestle to his "strengths" and stay away from getting involved in 50/50 power moves with stockier/shorter guys.......length leverage is an advantage but not when guys are "that" much thicker......

He is probably the most fun guy on the team to watch wrestle in my opinion and I think he will AA at some point in his career.....

I couldn't agree more.

A freshman mistake of thinking he could force moves like in high school. He definitely has to stay out of positions where his leverage is negated. Quickness, angles, finishing quickly and riding will win him a lot of bouts. John Smith wasn't really strong, but he wrestled to his strengths, as Spladdle said, and used what strength he did have at opportune times.

BTW, I agree you can never be strong enough in today's college wrestling world. And come nationals, as mookie said, it exposes many. I like Hines and think he has a great upside. He and Paetzell will make one another better. Nice depth at our lower weights.

This is an aside, but I've been watching the Senior Worlds and, yeah, there are a lot of musclemen in the tournament, but some of these skinny Russians, like the kid who beat Fix, have incredible technique and athletic ability and can handle the musclemen. The Russians pretty much brought their B Team to the Worlds and they're still neck and neck with a very good U.S. team for the team title.

So I teased Malyke at the picnic after hearing he was returning to 133: "Hey, you told me 2 yrs ago you might finish at 165!" ... with same big grin, replied: "Ok, so it might still be 157").

Third yr into Lehigh, Yogi Berra might have said to him: "Malyke, it's getting late earlier these days."
He can wrestle wherever he wants but 2 straight cuts back to his HS weight admittedly startles me. Maybe Paetzell can help convince him, if he rebounds medically. Two different people (duh); but there's a guy who realized he'd been cutting too much.
