I watched Edmond Ruth's bouts and while he did enough to win, he didn't exactly look all that good and he was visibly gassed early in each bout --- I imagine this lack of conditioning is due to working out away from a D1 room. Not a true 184 IMO......would be a beast at 174 and maybe where he'll end up once he gets into shape.

- agree with all this.

Sorry could not disagree any more. Looks like a stud who signed up for a tournament and beat all comers. No shite that he was not in as good of condition as D1 wrestlers in a room, come on! Hopefully Edmond has his head back on and is on that road back to a healthy person. Good luck ER.

I thought CA held a tournament in June 2021, but you are correct about Bailey:

In 2021 California had an invitational, not a complete tournament, Baily is not listed at any lower weight

Well, technically neither Jacob Allen or Gage Curry are "world-beaters", but they are grizzled veteran starters who've placed at EIWAs, gone to the NCAA tournament and beaten Lehigh wrestlers in the past.

So, I was pleasantly surprised to see a true freshman who I wasn't really even aware of, knock both of those guys off and win a tournament about a month into his college career. Kudos to Mr. Bailey - wishing him the best of luck in the rest of his career!

I agree completely. I'll assume that Curry is the former American wrestler that finished 3,4,3 in his last 3 EIWAs

Leia was listed as an unofficial state champ.

What does that mean? He was the highest returning place winner (3rd) from the 2020 Tournament?

Bailey is the son of a CS-Bakersfield AA back in 1989 (who knocked off Scott Hovan among others at NCAAs that year). His son Carter lost his 1st bout at Super32 and won 9 consecutive in consis to come back for 5th place and 10-2 record.
He may look young because he is, but he looks mighty talented as well. Some funk, a hammer on top, quick, and excellent defensively. Wait until they muscle him up a bit.

It means what I said. I assume they were talking about 2021. It was just something that popped up in a quick google search.

OK, I did my research. There apparently was an invitational in late June, 2021. Here are the results of that invitational which Leia won.
