Re: Recruits-2022
These recruits are coming in from elite programs (by and large) and developing relationships with those coaches is critical. Perhaps Blair has waned, but LU now has a working relationship with Wyoming Seminary, Malvern Prep, Bergen Catholic and now Selma, CA. That's a net positive.
Re: Recruits-2022
Very much a net positive, especially with very few recruits historically from them.
I'll try to remember to add them up (since 1955) when I get a break

Re: Recruits-2022
The three private schools obviously are elite - Elite.
I seem to remember Kiski winning a few PIAA AAA duals. I don't that they ever medaled (top 4 there) but a very solid program
Selma, I was never aware of, but others seem to think they are very serious in the locus of Calif Wrestling

Re: Recruits-2022
All may be good programs but none of these wrestlers is blue chip except Crookham who may be damaged goods due to injury.
Re: Recruits-2022
It's never a good idea at a high cost top academic school to get too caught up in the definition of 'blue chip'
Caden Rogers is flirting with Top 30, like Manzona Bryant was as a senior. We knew he was good but Carter Bailey -- an excellent recruit -- wasn't Top 100; never got to win CA States (was Top 2 when canceled). I'll be contacting Kimo's coach soon (Jason Kraft) but in the interim I'm treating any favorite to finish CA 3,1 as my definition of a rather blue chip. We've never landed that good a kid from CA in 50 yrs, at least on paper if that's how we evaluate.
Darian wasn't Top 50; I don't think Burley was. Mike Lieberman was barely above avg at Blair; never placed at Nat Preps. Hamlin & Preisch weren't Top 100, same as Brad Dillon. It's an endless finish line, the only thing that matters. Hell, our best-ever Hwt wasn't as much of a 'blue chip' in HS as NCAA 8,4 Bill Closson was (a Top 12). Zach was 'only' ranked 45, the 2nd-best hwt that year (who never medaled at all).
Get back to us later about why so many fans focus on such a narrow definition of blue chips

Re: Recruits-2022
I thought Regan was Ca 3rd, only loss on the year was semi to the champ. Also #1 in a graduating class of 900(?).
I thought we were after Kurt Howell that year and went after Ed when that failed.
If I recall in those three years of merit scholarships, 11 guys, he was the only one who did not miss a semester with an injury
When recruited Tihamer, Ca did not have a state championship

Re: Recruits-2022
Jason Kraft....is he the former Minnesota wrestler?
Tihamer, if memory serves, transferred in from Claremont-Mudd

Re: Recruits-2022
I checked ..... Jason is not 1 of the 4 Kraft bros; his resume says A/A for UNI and record book shows Rd12; that worked for 2020.
Correct about Claremont-McKenna, where I once had a job interview for alumni relations in late '90's. Terrific place; the VP, Dev was a Brown alum who went overboard to tell me repeatedly that I was going there. He forgot to get the Board's vote, who chose an inexperienced female alumna .... but let's not go there (pun intended)
