Side note: Cade Wirnsberger, who Crookham beat 10-1 in the QF is the son of the Bucknell HC Dan Wirnsberger who was a 3 X All-American including 1 X runner-up at Michigan St.

Young Wirnsberger only has 3 teammates. 2 are horrible. The good one is a hwt. Half to thinkhe would have a better career at lewisburg, milton, where MbC is, or selinsgrove or Mifflinburg

I see your point but the Lawrence brothers survived at Frazier which wasn't much better when Thayne arrived. I wonder if there are clubs that he works out in or does he even have use of the Bucknell facilities?

Reinsel and Chletsos seem to be at the same level despite the latter's 1-0 win. It may be interesting to see the growth curve going forward. Brookville is a solid program but NDGP has a schedule that rivals most schools in the country.

When Pat landed Thayne Lawrence (who met Cerniglia that year at 160), I asked him "what wt do you think he'll be?"
Answer, I recall, was: "Well, we don't know ... he could be 174, or could wind up 184, even 197 ... he has an older brother close to 200"

I didn't ask but it was apparent that the dad is pretty good-sized, as well. Note that Rune kicked off his HS career 38 lbs heavier than Thayne did. When I spoke to Thayne at the team picnic, he was excited about having had his surgery way back last March and was looking forward to moving up to 174

Heckuva family ... one hope at a time. Amazing that Cernica is still at 157; he must not have any big little or big brothers. 8-)

Lawrences have Young Guns. Nothing quite comprable in Union county. Very good wrestling, but not the populatiion. I would not be surprised to see the Meadowbrool proram disappear after next year, like st Joes of state college. Or it could be on and off like a lot of small school swimming programs. A few years ago there was a tiny school on philly, that aligned with District 1. The produced a state champ, who i think went to Sacred Heart. That progam then disappeared

Nawww, brothers never play well together. :D

Hafta' like the Reinsel final ... opponent didn't have a super W/L but finished PA 6,3,2,1

On a final note, I've appreciated these recruiting posts more than most, because the college season soaks my body to bone-weary and the last season yearly is usually mid-May. If Pat recruits "too many" kids, the thing can run 10 full pages incl photos. These forum posts help keep me from falling behind and by all accounts, the May '23 recruiting issue will be my last, "just what the doctor ordered." It's kinda funny, but not; 9 hospitalizations, 8 of them since starting LUWN in '95-96. Happy to still be on the rt side of the sod.

That would really crowd the 132-140 range in the wrestling room.

Who do you see as irreplaceable right now between 125-149?

Who has solid AA potential? Theoretically Crookham will step in and have the highest chance to AA of anyone in that weight range? Paetzell maybe IF he comes back and depending on what weight he needs to go…..Hines has all the potential but sloppy mistakes keep setting him back and he’s a “senior” next year (back when 4 years in college meant you were a senior) so how much better will he get?McGonagle looked a weight class below most of the guys he wrestled….. Brignola looks good but needs to beef up to be a AA caliber guy and that would probably put him at 157 if not next year than the year after…. MB4 by rumors probably not staying down at 149 so he becomes a 157 or 165……and so on….

I’ve felt from what i’ve seen of Morlacci he has a limited college upside…. Strong for high school but stiff on his feet…. If you can get a guy like Pierce you grab him and let the weights sort themselves out….
