Re: Suriano to Michigan
How about establishing a policy of “no 1y rentals will supplant a LU core recruit” policy and make it known. Could be a recruiting tool in the end.
Re: Suriano to Michigan
Boohoo for the poor Lehigh kid.
Re: Suriano to Michigan
3 or 4 one year rentals at Lehigh that I can Remember.
Marshall Peppelman The "classic" Ivy Grad case.
Santiago Martinez, Unique in that a grad student with a club background. But as he stayed with LVWC, he clearly was more than a rental.
Dan Hyman, Came as an undergrad, realizing he could not start at AzSU. I am not sure which institution is BS came from, but I gather he makes enough on Wall St that his academics are unquestioned.
I seem to remember someone else who came in with only 1 semester left. Who?
Probably a couple other 4th year transfers I can not think of.

I guess I don't understand the controversy. Any wrestler that we recruit expecting him to be a real difference maker should have aspirations of being a National Champ or at least an All-American. In order to accomplish that, you need to work like crazy and begin by beating the other competition in the room.Mountain Hawk wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 8:55 am How about establishing a policy of “no 1y rentals will supplant a LU core recruit” policy and make it known. We never promise recruits that we won't recruit an even better wrestler at his weight the following year nor will we ignore possible transfers such as Rob Rohn, Paul Diekel or Tom Husted. In order to be the best, you must wrestle the best even if he is only there for one year.
It seems to me that Lehigh only entertains one year guys when given the need.

Plus, I think any coach is going to tell you that his responsibility is to the team and not the individuals. If he can bring in a guy who'll make the team better, it's his job to do that.

Schramm was zero years. MG was 2.
Like I say, just a second semester sr year. Maybe it was someone we talked about, but it did not happen.
Boomer would have known

Re: Suriano to Michigan
Schram was one year.
Peppelman and Martinez were one year.
Dan Hyman was one year.
Matt Goldstein was two years.
Tom Husted was three semesters.
Those are the shortest-term transfers I can find. Since 1971 we've never had a one-semester transfer and I doubt we had one before 1971.

Schram did not compete. It was a total schram, I mean scam.
