Brignola up now in semis against Onorato from Drexel. Up 2-0 after the first. Takes down for 2nd. Is out quickly and has 1:43 of riding time. One of the coaches yelling “move your feet” for the $100 give up. Drexel chooses down for 3rd. Brignola with the boots in and has riding time secured. Drexel with escape. More blood time for Dragon. Brignola on to finals with a 4-1 victory

Meanwhile Lawrence up in other semi at 165 against NC state. Down 2-1 midway through the 1st. Down 4-2 end of first. Starts on top for 2nd. Escape NC State and another td. Losing 7-2 going into the 3rd. Lawrence takes down and is out quickly. Nc state playing keep away now…gets another td though. Cuts then gets another td. Loses and drops to 3rd-4th place match now

Taylor avenges loss to Navy’s Catka from last tourney

Wilt up now against Mielnik from UMD. 0-0 after 1. Wilt takes down.gets a reversal .22 seconds in. UMD with the escape. Wilt up 2-1 into the 3rd and UMD with quick escape. Wilt with the last minute td and hold out for the win. On to the finals

Bailey defaults to 6th. Taylor with the pin to move to the 5th-6th match

Brignola wins 8-7 in finals. Lawrence wins 4-2 to take third

Taylor with another pin to take 5th. Wilt down 14-0 in the second. Loses by tech to take 2nd

Bailey injured his left elbow in the 5th-place bout. Came in the first exchange; I couldn't see what happened (too far away and blocked view) but he was in a lot of pain initially and was holding the elbow.

Taylor gave up a 2+4 in the 1st pd, rode out in the 2nd, then came up with a TD to the back in the 3rd for the pin and win.

The 2’nd title this fall for Brignola. All of my recruiting newsletters were lost in a recent Russian attack. I know he is a NJ wrestler, was he a state champ or if not what was his bracket journey?

Not a state champ. I think he and Witt both were upset in semis

In high school: Four-time state qualifier and two-time place winner… finished fourth at 152 as a senior after claiming eighth place at 145 in 2020… three-year team captain… four-time regional place winner (and 2021 champion)… three-time district place winner (and two-time champion)… posted a 124-21 career record …freestyle state champion in 2019.

Bailey also racked up a bunch of wins on the consi side after losing his first match. He wrestled all the way back to the final (5th. place) match. Does anybody know why Nate Taylor was listed as unattached instead of with Lehigh like the other red shirts?

Probably just the way he was entered in the tournament; they didn't all get signed up at the same time.

Better question: why was Taylor allowed to wrestle seven times today?
