Herb certainly mentored Terry at this skill.

Just wondering why they wouldn't work out together just because they were 2 weights apart.

Well, maybe the fact that Terry said he learned from Herb was part of the evidence that Herb mentored him. Terry was not a great rider in HS, By the beginning of his sophomore year he was. Yes, they were great at riding, not at pinning. Letters was great at converting his crab ride to pints and pins. Obviously, when Josh is done with them, a lot of guys wish they had gone to Capua and the gladiatorial school therein instead.

It just seems to me that the sport of wrestling has changed or evolved over the years. In that period between 1975-1980, the Lehigh team was filled with punishing riders especially near the top with the Liebermans, Brown, Kilrain,
McCorkel and yes Destito.

The emphasis has slowly changed toward freestyle and placing more emphasis on wrestling from one's feet.

Speaking of Destito, I fondly remember Terry riding out the huge Iowa St. HWTto tie the match. I thought his name with Whelan because the headlines read, Destito rides the whale as Lehigh ties Iowa St.

That was all from memory though.

Robin Whisman. Chris Taylor's replacement, he only went 350 or so. I never saw Terry move as fast as when he scrambled out at the start of the period when Whisman began on top.

Well he did miss 3 bouts at the start of one season.
