Roster

Post by Spladle1989 » Sun Jan 09, 2022 9:25 am

Was scrolling thru 2021-2022 roster this morning and a couple things i wondered about....

No more Nathan Haubert, did he finally succumb to the injuries that have haunted him the past few years going back to high school? When healthy he was one tough wrestler..... and the addition of Senior Mike Sisselberger to the roster.... one hell of a lacrosse player, using wrestling for conditioning and training in the “off season” of lacrosse? I see he did wrestle some in high school....

Another kid missing from the roster this season (without comment on this forum, I believe) is Mitch Polito.

The most impressive part of looking at the roster is as many as 8 wrestlers with freshman eligibility that are likely starters next year as sophomores.

The stable is loaded for Pat to achieve his original goal to compete at the highest level among the big boys in our favorite sport.

Sisselberger wrestled only in his senior year in high school -- 10-8, seven falls (pinned three times) competing at 182, 195, and 220. Four falls in under 39 seconds. Depth move for 197?

Haubert and Polito haven't been on the roster this year; don't know what happened but they don't appear to be wrestling elsewhere.

Also just noticed Sisselberger. Strange showing up on the roster now, as LaCrosse practice, I assume, just began. First match about Feb 12. Wonder if just some kind of mistake by SID, his first mistake.

A couple years ago LU lineup often had 8-9 starters from PA. Usually we could have bumped up someone to have an all Pa team.

The strongest line-up this year has 3 Pennsylvanians, and guys from 7 states. It would be possible to field a lineup with guys from 10 states, Substitute Carter Bailey(Calif) for J Lane, And bump Kilrain(DC) up to !84.

During the Strobel years there was a season or two were we could have fielded a practical team that had guys from 10 states, none being Pa or NJ. I don't see any advantage one/way or the other.
