Transfer Portal Best Options
Re: Transfer Portal Best Options
Whiz, Mookie and GP in a triple salvo (very impatient), can Mr Packer be far behind?

Say, wbat?
Do you have some weird parlay bet with Denny or Oracle?

I don't disagree but doesn't that apply to Garcia too?Oracle wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 3:49 pm>>>>>> This is what I referred to on another thread RE: stats:
"Our room is filled with blue chip wrestlers. At least 8 of them were ranked top 70 in HS."
Once they arrive and have had an opportunity to demonstrate their ability --then and only then are their rankings validated. Before that it's all conjecture. Our room, based on actual wins and losses, unfortunately is not loaded with talented blue chippers. As Bill Parcells said: "You are what your record says you are." Unless we can somehow use those high school wins today. Can we?
Re: Transfer Portal Best Options
There are likely many who agree with you and much depends on one's definition of a "blue chip" recruit.
As I posted earlier this is what returns next year
With that being said, here is a sample of what returns next year
Sheldon Seymour PA 1,1,4
Jaret Lane PA 1,1,2,5
Thayne Lawrence PA 2,1,1,3
Gaige Garcia PA ,1,1,3,5
Nathan Taylor PA 1,4
Combined HS record of 673-51 (Taylor last 2 years)
Jake Logan NY 1,1,4
Josh Humphreys WV 1,1,1,1
Malyke Hines FL 1,1,1,3 (I think) 267-4
Connor McGonagle NH, 1,1,1,1 NE 1,1,1,2
Those 4 were all ranked top 70 in HS I believe
And now we throw in Ryan Crookham PA 1,1,1
If Top 70 doesn't qualify as blue chip, then perhaps you are correct. But I suspect most posters looked at these guys as blue chippers when they signed on the dotted line. I don't remember many years when Lehigh matted more credentialed recruits.
If they don't pan out collegiately then perhaps there is a different issue.

Good summary of potential blue chippers. I would say that Lane,Logan & McGonigle have demonstrated that conversion from HS to college success is not guaranteed.
The balance on your list still offer optimism to AA.

>> It looked to me LU lost Casale before Rogers or Garcia came into the picture
Yet it was an online recruiting comment (OpenMat or Flo) which got my attention: "Casale will give Lehigh extra insurance with Garcia and Rogers now in the fold" ... I'm pretty sure that when Zach helped convince Casale to verbally commit that P.J. didn't do it so he could be considered "insurance" for us.
Spladle: I've never noticed any rules that it's not okay to use post excerpts from others' post.
Thanks for reminding me why I'm a fool for trying a truce with you, as Almighty Seer

Simply for reference: NY Giant 6’3” 240 tight end Evan Engram (4.4 in the 40) had Lisfranc surgery on 12/20/19 with a screw placement to stabilize the joint after injury. He rehabbed and suited up for all 16 games beginning 9/15/20, starting 14 gm and enjoyed his 2nd-best season of five w/NYG. He just signed a 2-yr FA contract for 2022 with JAX for $18mil, far more than anyone projected, especially NY online fans who came to despise his countless drops.
The above comment on Lane almost takes my breath away. Never a Top 90 recruit, he's 45-20 with 18 WBF's and won the 10-team EIWA championship in 2021 and was ranked Top 16 nationally in the last two seasons. Logan and McGonagle each have ranked wins with 3 more yrs eligibility. Let's not make the coaches job with recruiting any more difficult than it already is.

On the Weiler stipend from Wisc, it was a graduate school offer, not regular ugrad recruiting. I thought I once mentioned that Robt Hamlin once turned me down for an LVAC post-grad salary which he was eminently qualified for. His reply to me: "I'm getting full tuition (from Lehigh, not Athletics) for my LU master's/PhD program - plus housing + $25k/year; I wouldn't feel right accepting anything else." This is the same Hamlin who told me he turned down a "full ride offer" from Cornell, to accept 70% from us on need-based. The only year he accepted NCAA grant money was his 5th year -- because need only covers four years.
That's two stories in one, on how well we recruited Robert Hamlin, never a Top 100 recruit.
